About this house rental
Located in Hopkins, this attractive house for $241 per night is a fantastic choice for your next break. This incredible ocean-front home is built right on the beautiful beach just steps away from the sea in the small Garifuna fishing village of Hopkins and is within walking distance of grocery stores, restaurants, bars, shops and other popular establishments. It is registered and licensed with The Belize Tourism Board, meeting all the quality standards. You can find the property under aMayanHeaven on BTB Gold Standard list of hotels. Built in 2009 and updated in 2015, the house has rich mahogany cabinetry, cabbage-bark hardwood flooring throughout, stainless steel appliances in the gorgeous chef's kitchen and authentic hardwood furniture. The house has a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area, 2 bedrooms with king-size beds, living room, 1 1/2 bathrooms. The house can accommodate 2 to 4 guests. Relax on the private front veranda looking out over the sea, or the rooftop to catch the full effect of the sea breeze and take advantage of the higher vantage point for views of the village and even the Cayes a few miles out on the reef. The property abounds with producing banana, mango, lime, yellow and green coconut trees. Our local manager takes care of the property and landscaping and provides optional housekeeping, provisioning services - all for an additional fee. She can also arrange transportation, car rental, travel and wide verity of tours. How to get here: Once you arrive in Belize city, you have two options: - rent a car and drive to Hopkins (about 2 1/2 hour drive) - take one of the regional carriers (Tropic Air or Maya Air) to the Dangriga Airport where we can arrange the transportation to the property.

The house is beautiful, nicely layed out, well secured, comfortable, and the aircondition worked very well.
Some suggestions:
*Get the airconditioners on prior to arrival of guests
*Have a check list of things to turn on and make sure all aminities are on or in operation: microwave, water heater
*We left a list of things that need to be replaced.
Thank you for the general clean up after the first week stay. Martin checked on us regularly.

The trash pile next to this property is discussing, Money was stolen out of the house. The picture of the house makes you think the other houses around it would be like it.

Beautiful! Very clean and stocked with everything needed. Porch was favorite spot!!! Plenty of room for multiple people to play/stay comfortably. Hope to return 🥰 We recommend the Belizean owned restaurants good food good prices. Aziz taxi service charged us 15% cheaper than Desmond's taxi

This is a beautiful home in a fantastic location. Having direct access to shaded beach first thing in the morning, is amazing.
Hopkins is a very fun little village with plenty to do. We rented bicycles one day and had a blast riding around the little village.
The overall experience is great, but for the price the home should get some general updates to the fixtures, hardware, and pest control.

The house is wonderful! Waking up to the sound of the surf in an extremely comfortable bed is otherworldly. Lots of room with everything you need, the house is well appointed and beautifully decorated. We loved our stay there and would do it again in a heartbeat. Stay here...just do it! The house is wonderful, we were right on the beach and felt super safe. We ate at Thongs cafe multiple times, just a couple steps away. Fun to be amongst the locals. Some trash does wash up on the beach daily, but once you do a quick clean-up it really is lovely! Thanks again- we enjoyed our stay in the lovely town of Hopkins.

Had a great time here. The house was larger than we needed for two of us but very comfortable with. Views from every room. The AC worked great. We spent most of our time on the beach or lanai. A couple more lounge chairs could be needed if more than 2 people staying. A paddle board or kayak would have been welcomed but the water was clear and warm. The beds were very comfortable but there are some very close barking dogs if you are a light sleeper. Easy walking to stores and restaurants. Things next door is a gem. Would definitely return

My family stayed in Hopkins before, only further down the road and loved it. However , this place made our stay Heavenly! The place is gorgeous with a view to die for and on top of that the beds are amazingly comfortable! It was like sleeping on a bed of marshmallows. The hammock was torn which would have been an issue for me but it happens a lot and I started to travel with my own, lol problem fixed. The area is more on the local side which I love with great places to eat. They had a few items for younger kids but we got hooked on the bocce ball ( funny we have at home and no one ever plays) and the end of the day. Definitely would recommend and would come back to stay.

Very comfortable house and beds. House had everything we needed. Fun to be right on the beach. Felt neighborhoody and safe. Some reviews mention it being a grandiose house among neighbors, while it is a very nice house it doesn’t feel/look out of place. And yes there’s some plastic that washes up, but the water is great. We swam almost every day.

Walk out your door and into the ocean is great. My only recommended is motion sensor security lights on the outside of the fense into the lane.

This is the nicest house on the beach in Hopkins. It is a really good location. The beach is fantastic. The beds are VERY comfortable. Highly recommended.

Awesome vacation!!! The local people were great, Martin was great and helpful, and we try to get some excursions in, but due to rain, we were limited to just going on three different outings. The beach at the House was real nasty past the trees, but everything else was good. I would really like to have a place in Hopkins, and I will be looking to see about opportunities to maybe purchase something there. In order to help the next customers, I think they have to understand the culture there! We were enlighten to meet the local pharmacist trying to sale us weed and mushrooms, and a local man named Abraham, that said he was starving. Martin had told us to not to give anything to the locals, so they wouldn't be hindering the next people staying there, in the house. My wife was a bit off guard with the local pharmacist, and this was the first day, that happened! I would tell people to be aware of their surroundings! Overall I would tell everyone to Come and Enjoy, and beautiful place!

The Views…..The Views
Staying at AMayanHeaven was perfect, the location to all areas is brilliant. The local cuisine was varied, reasonable and unbelievably delish!
With Thongs Cafe pretty much next door, you really do not need to make breakfast or lunch, the food there was fantastic!
We really enjoyed the well appointed house, with the beach at your door stop, nothing better!!

Plenty of supplies at the house including filtered water, bicycles, towels, etc. Centrally located in Hopkins, walking distance to great restaurants. Peers, Thongs, Coconut Husk, and Driftwood are well priced and have amazing food. Go rent a golf cart and explore the area.

We had a spectacular time, the house is beautiful and comfy. Amazing views of the ocean from the French doors with a lovely breeze to help keep cool. Friendly locals and within walking distance to wonderful restaurants, bakeries and stands. Centered in the middle of The village, the surrounding homes aren’t quite comparable to this but if you travel close to the marina the homes are quite grand. Happy go luckie tour Captain “Beans” will be sure to provide you with a spectacular outing. Snorkeling the reef was 1 of the best days of my life! . Be sure to visit the blue hole and the zoo, both worth the travel time. Be careful in the water though if the water is cloudy or rough, water shoes are advised. My husband got a nasty cut that required stitches first day we were there, and on the last day we saw a Crocodile swimming right off shore 😮. We were also there while Prince William and Kate were vacationing as well and they not only walked by the house while we were relaxing on the beach but stopped and spoke with us about our stay! Overall, our time was relaxing and beautiful and we can’t wait to explore more of Belize on our next trip 😃

Vegetable stand behind the house, groceries on either side in walking distance, Thongs cafe next door and can walk the beach either direction for excellent food. Look for tamales early in the day, we sampled a few and loved all of them. Bikes were an excellent asset!! Martin pumped the tires for us and away we went. Explored daily, sometimes multiple times. Great air conditioner for night sleeping. Kitchen had everything we needed, open both the front doors for the amazing beach view!! Appreciated having the fence around the house, the boundary was respected. When locals approached (which was only 1-2 times a day at best) to "support our soccer team" or to sell suoveniers they were very kind and after a quick "no thank you" they left promptly. Overwhelmingly the people of Belize are friendly and nice, we felt very safe as female travelers. One thing we noticed was the book/welcome packet needs some updating There no longer are cell phones with working numbers to use. We were a bit surprised as this was our planned means of communicating once there. Make sure your Whatsapp is up to date as that is the way to reach Martin. He was always very responsive. Bigger house than we needed for 2 people, didn't use the TV/living room or spare bedroom, but just can't beat the location and view.

Beautiful House with amazing view
This is a beautiful house with an amazing view right on the water. The house manager Martin & the owner are both very helpful, the house was clean, beds comfy, & the interior nicely finished. As mentioned in the other reviews, the house is in the middle of a fishing village & much nicer than the surrounding properties. We loved staying here & the nice people of Hopkins. The food was excellent from Ella's to Peer's to Thongs to the ladies across the street. For those looking for something more authentic than a standard resort stay I'd highly recommend staying here.

I met so many and I really felt like they are just living a cool, relaxed life and taking it easy. I wish we could make the (AMH) Hopkins our second home...

The home is, overall, quite lovely--attractive, roomy, on the water--many things going for it. Its location is unfortunate. Right in the middle of town, surrounded by poverty and shacks. People, and children, are begging on the beachfront. My wife was not comfortable there, as men stared at her and women ignored her friendly greetings. People were much friendlier on Ambergris Caye. (Just one mile south are two condo complexes with pools and piers and security, with a completely different [nicer] vibe. The lovely architectural design includes four sets of double doors that open to the veranda overlooking the water. Unfortunately, all are rusted shut and inaccessible. You must walk out the back and go around the house to the front. Privacy drapes needed grommets or tie-backs to be managed easily. Our check in was complicated. We arrived right on time, but the supposed property manager had moved to another town and was no longer employed there. We had no wifi, so we had to go to the one open restaurant (CoVid has crippled the commerce in this town) to use their WiFi to contact VRBO and the owner. The new property manager then showed up promptly and was very helpful in getting us in and set up with the WiFi there. After he left, we discovered that the television had been newly replaced (after being stolen), and hadn't been hooked up to the network. Ordinarily, we wouldn't have cared, but with curfew at 8pm, the ability to watch the football playoffs would have been nice. The owners and new property manager are lovely people, and I'm sure that CoVid and the two recent tropical storms have left significant scars that contributed to virtually all of our difficulties. Unfortunately, the timing was what it was, and the outcome was not what we had hoped..
