Stayed recently at the Kandyan Lounge for four nights while visiting friends who live close by. This is a gem of a place which is absolutely immaculately clean. It’s a small family run hotel and all the staff there couldn’t do enough to make sure our stay was a memorable one. Located raised on a hill the views are lovely and the sound of birds beautiful. The room we stayed in was very very clean and had everything we needed. Tea, coffee, water etc which was regularly replenished. We had a number of meals here, all of which were freshly cooked and beautifully presented. The flavours were exquisite. We ate all our meals outside on the terrace and it was lovely watching the world go by below.
The Hotel is an easy 15 minute walk from the Ranawana Temple, home of one of the tallest standing Buddhas in the world. It is well worth a visit to this beautiful holy site. The Tea Fortress is six a minute walk where you can’t buy good quality teas as well as eat lovely food in the tea room upstairs. A twenty minute ride in a Tuk Tuk will take you into Kandy, a spiritual centre for some of the world’s main stream religions, home of the Temple of the Tooth, The Botanical gardens, local markets, a beautiful lake. All in all this is a must visit gem. We will definitely return.
