Latmos 1860 is a lovely old town house set in a garden in a quiet central area of Skala just a few minutes walk from the port and from shops and restaurants. It comprises a number of different, very individual apartments restored to a high standard and retaining many original features. The host and his wife are very welcoming and accommodating. The facilities are great and the bed was very large and extremely comfortable. The garden is a nice space. The bathroom and shower were fine.
As above the apartments are very individual and have their own different character. We were in the Cave Suite where the bedroom area is an old restored cellar, meaning it is below ground level with no windows, which was an interesting experience, but perhaps not for everyone...some guests really like it, but we moved half way through our stay to an alternative with a view. This was arranged by the host who was very generous and understanding regarding our reservations. We would certainly return to Latmos 1860 and stay in one of the upper rooms or the garden suite.

Big apartment space and had everything to make our stay very comfortable. It was nice to have a proper dining table and chairs, and enough wardrobe and cupboard space. Great location, quiet but very close to everything in Skala. Lovely toiletries in the bathroom.
As others have said, the stairs up to the front door are steep, but when we stayed there was a thunderstorm one morning and we were grateful that we were on a higher floor, as the street level briefly became a river. It is also quieter as you are further away from street level. Others have mentioned some motorbike noise from the coffee place opposite, but that didn't bother us at all, especially as it only opens at 8am.
I really appreciated that there were proper bug screens on both windows, and shutters to keep out the sun, as well as air conditioning. The little balcony is a suntrap, it was a bit hot for us, but was nice to have some outside space.
We never met Dimitris (the owner/manager) in person, although he took care to message and check we were doing ok and asked if we needed anything. The front door key/lock does take a bit of getting used to, as there is a knack to it. It isn't the easiest place to find, as the back streets of Skala are initially quite confusing.
We obviously weren't the only people who found the self-check in process and directions on arrival a little confusing, as on our final night around midnight, we were disturbed by some other tourists trying to get into our apartment. Clearly, they had the wrong one! Luckily, we had locked ourselves in, and the other tourists understood and were sorry when I spoke to them. Dimitris was also very apologetic when I messaged him about this. However, I cannot help but think that if the check-in process was more personal, then this kind of honest mistake could be avoided in future. It is a shame that the service is not more personal, because everything else about this apartment was excellent.
