It isn’t often that you leave somewhere knowing the next place you stay has to be measured against an 11. Today this is the case after finishing our one week stay at Secret Garden … which in the age of AI should remain no secret. Guilin and surrounds offers the worlds most perfect landscapes on which to paint the picture of an even more extraordinary people and culture of which one short week can provide only the briefest hint. Our stay was more like a visit to a previously unacquainted family member with all the comforts of home seamlessly provided by Qin our manager, concierge, butler, cook as needed, comms and tour officer and in the end I would say, good friend and “sister”. She is a generous woman in the mould the archetypical Chinese innkeeper, welcoming, outgoing and going out of her way to provide most hospitable service and highly memorable experiences. From solving our Alipay, WeChat pay and Didi issues to offering great advice and scheduling our remarkable day tours with a supercool guide, Qin is intuitive, always available but never intrusive or pushy. While showing some of the patina of age the bones of Secret Garden are strong and a commodious modern take on the traditional. Our room (more studio apartment) with floor to ceiling windows offering karst mountain views in 3 directions included significant balcony, a big bathroom with full plunge bath and rain shower, great bed and lounge with 3 sitting areas including the very airy balcony overlooking Fanglian Pond in the Ludi Scenic Area… the calmest place to chill out, take a massage, appreciate village life and culture and taste the unique local food

Excellent peaceful location. Qin makes you feel very welcome and is extremely helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Good choice of both Chinese and English breakfast, served in a stunning dining room by the lovely Qin.

Everything about the property is exquisite. From the early communication with Qin, who was so helpful throughout our stay, gave us a free room update, to the pristine location of the accommodation, the beautiful furnishing & details and the delicious breakfast. The accommodation was a pure bliss and oasis. Qin was always so nice, always ready to help us, she even gave us a free bag of snacks when we left and ordered a taxi for us. I highly recommend this place if you want to have the perfect stay in Guilin.
