The apartment is located in a very pleasant neighborhood at the heart of Valletta. All museums, restaurants, and ferry terminals are accessible on foot. The room is furnished in a standard way: there's a bed, a small table, a chair, a few coat hangers and a few shelves. What is good is that the room includes a bathroom and a shower cabin. Linen and a few towels were provided, together with a 2l bottle of water and a few traditional Maltese cookies. I appreciated having access to the shared kitchen, but ended up not using it because the refrigerator did not work and there were bugs running through the cupboards.
Most of the troubling things had to do with the poor communication of those renting the apartment. It started with the hosts not sending me the check-in information on time (I had to make an additional inquiry) and then sending very confusing information about the door keypad which ended up being unnecessary. Trying to open the key box was an unexpected struggle, and not only for me either. WhatsApp customer service was available, but often felt AI-generated, especially because some of my questions were never answered. There was a power cut in the area halfway through my stay, which meant no Internet and no air conditioning in the heat of +40C. The shop owners in the area told me that this happens every year. I would have appreciated a warning from the hosts on the day rather than having to find out on my own after a day's travels. The least the hosts could have done is send a message and provide a wet towel in the absence of air conditioning. It is also too bad that even during the heatwave the towels were not changed every day. The information about the additional Eco Tax would also be a welcome mention in the pricing.
