Parador de Plasencia

A beautiful Parador but with little signage to where restaurant/bar etc were., so was rather confusing trying to find them as the spaces all looked the same. Good breakfast.

The car parking was an absolute nightmare. To get to it you had to go down tiny narrow streets and when you arrived you had to get out of your car and ring the bell and the metal door opened and you then had to wait for the lift to come and you had to drive your car into it. The lift was very small, I have a large Volvo car and the angle to get into the lift was difficult and I couldn't reverse as the metal door behind had already closed. I put my wing mirrors in and so I could not see the sides and I managed to scrape the side of my car on the metal barriers on each side of the lift. Why they don't put rubber ones there I just don't understand.. It was a very stressful experience and costly. The parking information does not say that you have to put your car into a lift to get to the garage, On leaving it was easier only because there was no car in the space behind so you could reverse to get the car straight to drive into the small lift. I have never experienced anything like this before. We went to the bar for a drink and the female member of staff was so unfriendly, no smile or welcome when we arrived and put our order in , and when she delivered our drink to the table , again no smile. Such a shame as we have been to so many Paradors throughout Spain and have never experienced this before.

Brilliant location in the centre of town, beautiful historical building which has been carefully renovated to be exceeding comfortable without losing any of its ambiance and historical character. We only stayed one night but wish we had stayed a few more evenings. Next time we definitely will.

There was nothing to dislike

The property is historic and beautiful as is the room and decor. The breakfast is bountiful and good. Location within the castle is great. Parking is underground via a lift and easy to access.

Superb historic building, great atmosphere

Expensive by comparison with other Paradores. Car parking a bit tricky and an additional 18 euros charge. Unlike other paradors the bar was not open for food until 8.30pm. Bar staff a bit disinterested and offhand.
