Parador de Plasencia

The room was quiet, clean and well presented. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was well equipped. It is a beautiful building although didn't appear much to be of it available to see other than the internal courtyard area and the refectory which is the dining room. Good access to Plaza Mayor and the busy bars and shopping area.

Parking was quite a long walk with several flights of steps involved in both the car park and access to the parador. The return walk from the car park was slightly uphill which in the very hot weather of August was extremely difficult for my partner even though we did not have our suitcases with us as they had been dropped off at the hotel. There wasn't any complimentary water despite paying nearly 300 euros for a double room. The swimming pool is not much more than a children's pool and hardly deep enough for an adult to swim. Nevertheless a place to sit and cool down in the hot weather.

The Parador in Plasencia is amongst our favorite hotels. We stay here once a year. The building is extraordinary, and the very spacious hotel rooms are all kept in the same style. The breakfast is great (try the leche frita!). The exit of the medieval building leads you directly into the medieval city center.

Superb historic building, great atmosphere

Expensive by comparison with other Paradores. Car parking a bit tricky and an additional 18 euros charge. Unlike other paradors the bar was not open for food until 8.30pm. Bar staff a bit disinterested and offhand.
