Lovely room on 2 levels with a jacuzzi on the second floor. Very spacious.

The character of the building was lovely and the staff were very helpful and friendly. It was as it should be.
The breakfast was pretty poor - the toast was not cooked at all and a continental breakfast normally consists of some pastries of some kind. The choices were either boxed cereal or a small amount of yoghurt with the small amount of untoasted bread.
The room that we had was not suitable for people with mobility issues. The bathroom was up a very narrow spiral staircase. My mother who is 73 was not able to use the bathroom in the middle of the night as she was afraid she would fall. We did ask if we could swap rooms but unfortunately, the whole place was booked for Burghley.

No welcome at breakfast, just told to go and find a table set up for two. No instructions i.e. please help yourself. One small slice of toast put on table at start of breakfast therefore cold by the time we ate it
