Overall, my stay at the Brentwood Inn by Greene King Inns was mixed. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and welcoming when I arrived and made me feel comfortable during check-in. The location was also perfect for what I needed, which was a big plus.

Unfortunately, there were several issues with the room that affected my stay. I also wasn’t alone in experiencing problems, as other guests I spoke to during my stay mentioned having similar issues in their rooms. The shower temperature was very inconsistent. The water would go from extremely hot to cold, and even when you thought you had finally found the right temperature, you could suddenly get a rush of very hot water without warning. This made showering quite uncomfortable. The bath was also extremely small. The bed was uncomfortable, mainly because it appeared to be two single beds pushed together. You could clearly feel the join in the middle, especially when turning over during the night, which made it difficult to get a comfortable night's sleep. There was also a very strong smell of damp as soon as you entered the room, and it was particularly noticeable in the bathroom. This really affected the overall feel of the room and made it less pleasant to spend time in. Another issue was the very bright floodlight outside the window, which overlooked the bins and rear parking area. The light was extremely bright and would shine into the room at night almost like daylight, making it difficult to have the room properly dark. It may be worth considering having these lights activated by a motion sensor rather than being on constantly, so they only come on when someone is actually using that area. Also getting blackout curtains would be a bonus. The friendly staff and excellent location were definitely positives, but the problems with the shower, bed, damp smell and extremely bright lighting meant the room itself fell short of what I expected. I hope these issues can be addressed, as with some improvements the hotel could provide a much better experience for future guests.
