If you're looking for a great place to stay that offers wonderful value for money then look no further. On first appearance Quinta de Novais might appear a little basic but do not be deceived. Our room was spacious and clean with a balcony overlooking the garden. The breakfast was plentiful and the staff friendly even if they didn't speak much English. But then we didn't speak much Portuguese!! If you're looking for boutique, it's not for you but if you want a base in the heart of the Arouca geo park I would recommend you book here.
I would have preferred to have a hairdryer in our room and a kettle. However, this is not a 5-star residence and reception was happy to provide the hairdryer and there was a tea and coffee station one of the communal areas. I think we got incredible value for money with what we had.

Nice and quiet.
Nobody at reception when we arrived at 15. . Had to wait for more than half an hour. When she arrived the girl was really nice and showed the room and facilities. Breakfast was ok, but not more as Nescafé was served- to me this is not really coffee;-). The receptionist in the morning could not answer a very basic question about how to get by car to 516 Arouca bridge parking. but sent us to the tourist office in town!!
