The Hotel Weinbauer was fine for a one night stay in Schwangau. We've stayed there several times over the years and have always had a nice experience. Our room appears to have been recently renovated in a nice modern Bayerish style. The room was spotless and we had a nice view of the Neuschwanstein Castle from our room's balcony. The employees who worked at the front desk reception were very welcoming, coming and going. Breakfast offered many nice choices and was run very efficiently. Lift was available and family dog welcomed. Free parking onsite.
The restaurant that now resides within the hotel (not the breakfast service, but the restaurant) was a huge disappointment to us this time. As I noted, we've stayed at the hotel a number of times through the years, primarily because of the great restaurant and service. Ownership has clearly changed because customer service and quality of food seems to have left the building. We would stay at the hotel in the future for sure, but we will skip the restaurant.

It is a very nice hotel close to Neuschwanstein castle (around 2 km). Staff is extremely nice and competent. Good food, nice atmosphere. Parking was free if I remember right. The neighborhood was nice and calm. You can have a beer in a place just next to the hotel. All furniture was new and it was high quality woodwork, not just simple DIY stuff. So the hotel makes a big impression. Food was good. I definitely recommend it.

Awasome place. Great base for exploring this beautifull part of Germany. Really great breakfasts and fantastic dinners (best schnitzel I ever have). Personal always kind and smiling. Everything clean and nice, very good mattress.
No wifi in our room(nr.22), but we saw it as a benefit. Harder to park car by the hotel, but no big deal, larger public parking lot just behind the hotel. No mayor issue present in this great hotel.

Breakfast had a good choice and the room we got upgraded to was modern, with good firm pillows, nice decor and a view to the castle.
We booked two standard rooms for one night. The rooms faced a surprisingly busy street for a small village, making it too noisy to sleep with open windows, so we turned on the air conditioning.
Around 7pm the AC stopped working. At reception we were told that another guest had complained about AC noise, so all air conditioning in the hotel had been switched off. Unfortunately, the initial interaction with the receptionist was dismissive and unhelpful, and we were even told that the “solution” would be for us to leave the hotel, which was quite shocking.
Shortly afterwards, another staff member (likely the manager) came to our room, apologized sincerely, and offered us upgraded rooms on the quiet side of the hotel. These rooms were excellent—quiet, comfortable, with noticeably better bedding and pillows. We appreciated how professionally the situation was resolved in the end.
This was one of the strangest service experiences we’ve had despite extensive travel. While the final outcome was very good, the behavior and communication from the receptionist earlier in the evening were disappointing and puzzling.
