the room was comfortable and clean; the rear of the hotel had a nice outlook
swimming pool and leisure area are very tired looking due to lack of maintenance eg paintwork is peeling; facilities are shared with the public and therefore quite crowded: breakfast area was dark and dingy, again could do with a paint job or complete refurb; breakfast was poorly laid out - should check out Premier Inn Stansted for ideas on how to make breakfast look appetising; our room was overlooking the main road which is quite a busy road. Not suitable for people with mobility issues - the whole place is spread out on different levels even in the corridors and no elevators (lifts).

Our room electronic key card was somehow duplicated and when we entered our room we found it was already occupied. Very embarrassing. Very bad security.

Lovely friendly welcoming staff room size very spacious great they also had a pub just across the way parking great felt comfortable leaving car there bus stop just down the road so great when getting into town we visited broughton on the water so pretty beautiful just a 20 minute drive away so great location 😊
Felt breakfast was a little light on Continental not enough choice plus we didn’t get asked if we would like full breakfast or just continental we had to specifically say so we’re not given option price depending pillows in room could of been a little firmer but that’s down to the individual I guess 😊

Facts I was told I can’t used my phone in the spa to speak too my sick mother who was in hospital while I witness other guest on their phone also certain guest was very loud

Comfortable room, spacious hotel with lovely features like the tall columns in the Reception area, staff were FANTASTIC! Every member of staff we met were so friendly, helpful and professional.
The food was ok but would like to see a bit more choice on the menu in the restaurant.

The hotel is a bit tired looking,and breakfast was dreadful… nothing working properly and not even warm.

The location was good
The property looked dated and unmaintained from the outer and once stepping inside we were greeted by a rude ginger lady on the desk. She told us we had to pay for breakfast even though it was included in our booking and once we showed her proof of this she still continued to deny that breakfast had been paid for.
The rooms were basic with a lack of plug sockets. For what the room had cost for one night I feel like it was overpriced

Had to change in toilets when we were told the day before we arrived that a room would be available to us to change as we were going to the races
Staff were rude and unprofessional
Was told we couldn’t use restaurant until after 830 as fully booked when we walked by at 730 it was empty
When I tried to complain a member of staff asked me (what is your problem mate) nice way to speak to customer
I complained to a duty manager who asked me to email all our problems and he would arrange a full refund this I did on Friday and have to date not had a response

A nice location easy to find and park
A very long distance from reception to our room no 354 not really suitable for two 85 years old couple.

Really nice location with good facilities to eat and relax (The Pool). Staff were excellent. Overall a nice stay. It’s not far from the hotel to nice locations for things to do.
Signage could have been better for the reception and also parking as we got a bit confused with the clock tower parking. Breakfast availability could have been slightly better as the first morning we went a bit later at 9:00 and was due to finish at 11 and there wasn’t as much as there was if you were to go early, however the breakfast was still lovely.

The Spa and the spa staff are great.
Reception staff not really on their a game. We were not offered to book into the restaurant so ended up being offered a few dishes in the bar area which we declined and found food in another restaurant.
Stair carpets were dirty when we arrived and were not vacuumed for the 3 days of the stay.
Breakfast was cold and some of it inedible.
Pillows are useless and made our necks bad.
Temperature of the room was like the surface of the sun and impossible to cool down even with two fans.
Only one clean mug was left in the room on the second day.
No second day breakfast menu left in room (dodged a bullet there)
Had to ask for a simple pen to fill in breakfast menu as there was not one left in the room.
Suite booked for special occasion and not very comfortable for the price. (No cushions on sofa and dodgy lamp fitting in room, toilet flush not working correctly)
Just generally but run down and scruffy.

The electric car charger was available just next to the hotel, big plus. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
The hotel seems to be very old, the rooms need refurbishment. The breakfast choice wasn't spectacular, just a standard 'English breakfast' type of buffet. Only toast bread available, not an ideal option for those who don't like it.

Breakfast was good, had a good choice.
Bedroom needs a good clean. Bathroom needs a good scrub, with the bath grubby and the grout. The bed linen was ripped in more than one place (My dog has better bedding). The bed was so uncomfortable. The room was to hot and the window can only be opened a small amount with a safety lock (understandable for children).
Staff in the bar, should iron their uniform.
No lift in the hotel at all, so long walks to facilities.
Very dated, nothing like the pictures.

Really comfy bed and pillows and excellent black- out curtains that helped my daughters get more sleep than usual when staying in a hotel.
Breakfast was very tasty.
Hadn't been told about the limitations on children using the pool prior to arrival which was quite annoying as I had planned my trip around us using the pool before breakfast which I couldn't do.

The breakfast at the hotel provided a commendable selection of both sweet and savoury standard options. Each dish, while conventional, was prepared with care. The efficiency and warmth of the breakfast service team significantly enhanced our morning experience. Dinner offered an array of appetising choices, with each dish meticulously prepared and bursting with flavour, all set against the stunning backdrop of the hotel's natural scenery. Our afternoon tea experience on the terrace was a highlight, offering a tranquil retreat among the verdant surroundings and the soothing sounds of a nearby river. The fitness centre was well-appointed with up-to-date equipment, ensuring a satisfying workout. The natural beauty of the location was truly breathtaking, and the ample parking facilities provided convenience even during the busy Easter long weekend.
However, our stay was marred by several disappointments. The room's cleanliness was notably below par; over our four-day visit, the bedding remained unchanged, surfaces were coated in dust, and only the toilet bowl seemed to receive any cleaning attention. The lack of communication regarding the necessity for dinner reservations led to an unfortunate situation where, under the assumption that the half-board arrangement mirrored the breakfast setup, we found ourselves without a dinner spot on a fully booked Saturday night, ultimately dining at an unusually late hour.
The spa facilities, while potentially relaxing, were overwhelmed by local members, resulting in a lack of massage appointments and an overcrowded sauna, steam room, and swimming pool, the latter teeming with children and the hot tub occupied by adults. The WiFi connection also fell short of expectations, offering weak connectivity despite our room's close proximity to the router. In summary, the hotel, while boasting numerous strengths, desperately requires refurbishing to update its somewhat dated decor and amenities.

Not a dislike but a comment to manager.
I don’t believe people who have visited the spa area should be allowed to sit in the bar area in a bathrobe with no footwear at all.
People were trying to enjoy a drink and afternoon tea and I felt this was not appropriate.

Room not as spacious as anticipated. Bit of a squeeze round bed .
Toiletries supplied were minimal. 1 soap, 1 shampoo and 2 body lotions. Needed to ask at reception for soap

Was poor, the fan on the wall was broken. The swimming pool looked like it needed love and the exterior of the building looked like it needed a lick of paint. It was our first night away ever with our children aged 7 and 11 so was a real treat and we felt booking a prestigious hotel like the Hilton we would receive a certain standard of accommodation. It was just a little disappointing.

The room was so clean the staff were so lovely and they kindly upgraded our room on arrival and gave us cookies!!! Just the best!!!
The heating was kept on so we couldn’t regulate the room temperature so was too hot. The fan provided blew out hot air!!

The bed was comfortable, the curtains thick enough to block out the light, and the shower had good temperature control and pressure.
Only one of the bath towels and one of the facecloths appeared to be clean, the rest had stains and hair on them. I left them on the floor to be collected by the maid and they appear to have been simply folded up and put back as the 'replacements' seemed to have the exact same stains/dark patches and hairs. I had used one of the dusty mugs left in the room for tea after cleaning it with an alcohol spray and hot water from the kettle and when I returned to the room after the maid had been it was turned upside down on the tray, was covered in black flakes/residue like it had been rolled around over a burst tea bag. There were also short black hairs and more black residue all over the inside of the mug. It's obvious the maid had wiped the mug down with a filthy cloth, which must have been used to wipe down a sink and god knows what else. There was still residue at the bottom of the mug from whoever used it previously. I have no idea how anybody would think it was acceptable to leave a mug for use which was clearly not clean just from looking at the outside, never mind the inside, but that's what happened and the only explanation for it is either blindness or incompetence from the maid. The air con unit was also broken.

The breakfast was Nice
There Is no lift , so not good to travel with babies, prams, ect..
Room was ok but heating was not working . After reported it , it took 24h to fix it , not good knowing that we had a baby.

The view, food, TV, bed, shower, coffee and tea in the room were of great quality. Fresh towels every day. Dogs were allowed yet you wouldn't be able to tell a dog had ever stayed as there was no smell of animals at all.
Lovely walks close by, restaurant was amazing and the attention to people with allergies was fantastic. Being I am allergic to eggs they went above and beyond.
The spa was lovely also and the receptionist even made me a lovely coffee afterwards.
Long walk to rooms. But the hotel is huge so that's just me being picky, also unsure if doors were fire exit only or was able to use.

The bed was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was good, and the staff we interacted with were very friendly.
The room was cramped, and the en suite even more so. The only way to sit on the toilet was at an angle. The restaurant experience was disappointing, as the food was below average, and we had to wait almost an hour for the main course. The WiFi was also unreliable, so in the end I simply used my phone as a hotspot instead.
