I first stayed at the Antique Hostel as a 20-something backpacker back in the early 2000s, and upon returning to Istanbul 23 years later, I thought I'd stay in the same place and bring back some memories. It was an amazing experience to return, to meet the fantastic owner Mr Hilmi again after all these years, as well as his son Efe who hadn't even been born last time I was there! As a middle-aged traveller now, I chose this time to stay in one of its double rooms with ensuite bathroom. It was very comfortable, and I loved both the dining area and rooftop terrace again. Breakfast was delicious and served with a huge smile by the lovely breakfast lady, and it really is one top location for accommodation in the city. Right in the heart of Sultanahmet and a short walk to all the sights, as well as down to the Bosphorus, it still retains a quiet and calm atmosphere on one of the area's leafy backstreets, away from the hustle and bustle of the much busier touristy areas to the west. An absolute pleasure to return, and thank you for having me again!

The location was excellent, just steps away from transport, shops, and restaurants. The kitchen staff were genuinely kind and welcoming, which made mornings feel warm and friendly. Having breakfast included was a big plus, and the overall price was unbeatable for the area.
I stayed in the basement hostel area, and the bathrooms there were quite old and not well maintained ( really dirty ). Definitely bring flip flops for the showers.

A simple hostel. Great location. Friendly, helpful staff. The simple, neither plentiful, nor poor breakfast, is a welcome gesture
It could be cleaner (hygiene facilities, bed linen), but it was not dirty either.
