Discovery Coron formerly Club Paradise Palawan

The welcome by the staff upon alighting the boat was incredibly warm and immediately helped us relax. The beach was beautiful, the layout of the resort was well planned and the overall atmosphere was one of peace. We loved the movie nights by the pool and the various games available to play across the lounges and outdoor areas. Special mention of the coron tour which was a highlight of our trip. Tour guide Adrin did a remarkable job and we were really pleased. I really liked the feeling that the resort is a part of the community, with the staff being local, and the various strategies the resort has to repay the environment and local communities. Especially, we loved being so close to nature. There were many animal visitors during our stay from large lizards, night herons and the famous fruit bats, not to mention we saw parrot fish and turtles during our snorkeling by the hotel beach. I even heard there were sometimes dugongs

There were a few issues during our stay, when we consider the costs and expectations. On the first day, I fell quite ill and while the resort doctor and staff who responded were amazing, I went back to my room to recover and was woken by housekeeping who told me they could clean the room now or never (usually in a high class resort or hotel you can ask them to come back later but they told me "we can clean now or tomorrow, we can't come back"). The shower room had no ventilation and had some mold growing in the grout. There was a storm one night and while it was nice that the staff came by to set up our room nicely while we were on tour, the terrace chairs were still strewn across the beach where we'd seen them in the morning and not fixed. Although the food was nice (especially the buffet breakfast), the cocktails were quite disappointing considering the price was similar or more than similar quality resorts (e.g. the caipirinha was made with soda and lemons and the Margarita tasted like margarita mix and not fresh juice). Lastly, and it's a small thing, but the Nespresso machine had four coffee pellets offered, with additional being charged to the room. As we were three to the room, and there for 3 nights, it was a bit of a shock to be charged for something most hotels at that caliber offer freely.

The resort was awesome, we had a ocean view room and it was very spacious and had everything you need. The scenery was beautiful and the snorkeling was the best I’ve experienced in the world.

The food was ok but would have liked the buffet breakfast each day (rather than à la carte) but understood it was due to the number of guests. Also a convenient store could have been good to buy a snack.

We absolutely loved our stay at Discovery Coron. It was the perfect start to our Philippines vacation. We stayed in a Sunset Deluxe Villa with breathtaking views, and with the resort being pleasantly quiet in June, it often felt like we had the beach to ourselves. The wildlife made our stay especially memorable. We saw fruit bats, monitor lizards, and incredible sunsets every evening. Snorkeling right off the beach was outstanding, and hiking to Eagle's Point offered beautiful views. One night, we even experienced an amazing lightning storm that lit up the entire sky. The thoughtful touches, including local treats delivered each evening, towel animal creations, and relaxing spa massages, made our stay even more special. The staff were warm, friendly, and welcoming throughout. Our villa was more rustic than luxurious, but the stunning natural setting, views, and peaceful atmosphere more than made up for it. Discovery Coron is ideal for relaxing, snorkeling, diving, and enjoying nature. We would gladly return.
