We really enjoyed our stay at Martina House! Set in an authentic 18th-century building, it had so much character and gave us a lovely sense of Rome's history. It was tucked away in a quieter, charming part of the city, near Via Veneto and Villa Borghese, away from the busiest tourist areas, which was exactly what we loved about it. Our host was warm and friendly, and so was his gorgeous dog, who added a lovely personal touch to our stay! There were some wonderful, authentic Italian restaurants nearby, and we really enjoyed exploring the neighbourhood. Rome is such a big city, and getting to the major attractions often involves a long walk or a taxi, although the train station was conveniently close. We chose to walk everywhere, which turned out to be a wonderful way to discover more of the city. One of the things we loved most was exploring some of Rome's lesser-known treasures. We visited the fascinating Catacombs of Priscilla, wandered through the beautiful and unusual Quartiere Coppedè with its whimsical Fountain of the Frogs, and explored Villa Torlonia, including the enchanting House of the Owls and the historic villa where Mussolini once lived. These places were absolutely fascinating and offered such a welcome escape from the crowds around Rome's more famous attractions. What made Martina House special for us was the opportunity to experience a different side of Rome. We loved wandering the local streets, eating at neighbourhood restaurants and feeling, even for a few days, as though we were living like Romans rather than tourists. If you enjoy authentic accommodation, a quieter neighbourhood and discovering parts of Rome beyond the usual tourist trail, I would definitely recommend Martina House. It was a lovely place to return to after a full day exploring, and we'd happily stay here again!

The location of this accommodation was great. Not very far from the Spanish steps and Trevi Fountain. Be warned it is down hill from the accommodation and then uphill to get back. We had a warm welcome and lots of instruction. The room was lovely. The bathroom a bit tiny but it as fine. There is an old fashioned elevator which was really helpful since it is on the 5th floor.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful, Guido and Martina were such lively people. We had free breakfast at Cafe Paris, various restaurant recommendations with discount. We could store our luggage after checkout.

Location and breakfast
Photographs suggested only two bedrooms on the fifth floor and a living room for our exclusive use. Tiny bathroom with no bath. TV all in Italian - no English.
