Would definitely stay again next time in Hertford.

Very friendly staff ,Made you warm welcoming. The food & drinks were great.Beds comfortable and the showers were amazing.

Lots of stairs to carry luggage and no lift as very old building 1571.so understandable. Could do with a little updating.

Cosy and calm, overall great stay and pleasant experience:)

The location was perfect, lovely looking hotel with great decor, nice and cosy. Good facilities in hotel room.

The room itself was smaller than expected, it was clean apart from some areas that could have been dusted a bit better and we also found someone’s bra in the wardrobe? Which was strange so it should have been double checked. We weren’t disturbed by the noise from the pub/bar downstairs which we were worried about, however the noise from other people in rooms near us in early hours of the morning running up and down the corridors was not great at all there was no respect. I am aware that this might not be the fault of the hotel itself and it’s staff. Staff were fairly friendly but seemed a little distracted upon greeting us. When we were checking out it was very quick and we were not asked about our stay. Information for the continental breakfast was not very clear and I think for the price we payed a cooked breakfast should have been provided anyway especially as this was a birthday booking I think it would have been nice.

Best hotel experience ever

Everything was best, i spent my best birthday ever. I really enjoyed. My partner arranged some decor in the room for my birthday. The vibe, staff and everything was amazing. I wish i could stay abit longer

Very good

The Salisbury Arms is a great hotel and the location is perfect. Our room was beautiful and the bathroom was absolutely stunning. The car park was also a bonus. We would not hesitate to stay again. I must point out, however, that the breakfast was disappointing. I had to ask for orange juice and butter as they had not been replaced. There was also a lack of variety of choice available ie cheese or cold meats or fresh fruit salad - items which are usually present for a continental breakfast. That said, as noted above, we would definitely stay again.

An enjoyable stay and would definitely stay again.

Hotel is situated in middle of town and we did get a bit lost around the one way system - however, once we located the hotel and went in and asked for directions to the car park everything was explained about the one way roads! We had an evening meal which was very good and we were given an upgrade to the room we originally booked. A continental breakfast was included which was good, and there were options to have a fully cooked breakfast if required. All the members of staff we encountered were very pleasant and willing to help. We liked the Butler's Pantry where you could get extra tea/coffee/milk etc for the room.

We were happy with our stay.

Exceptionally comfortable, well appointed surprise.

We were really blown away by how fresh, clean and comfortable both the public parts of the hotel and the room were. Speaking to one of the managers, we learned that it has recently been refurbished and it really showed. It has a good car park just round the corner which always had space when we needed it, and was well placed in the centre of the town.

The staff on the whole were exceptional, but we think we got the “B” team one morning for the breakfast service. The waiting staff were disinterested, and needed repeatedly reminded to bring the parts of the breakfast that weren’t self-service. A couple who came down shortly after us were left waiting with menus for well over 20 minutes, and when they tried to order were told that breakfast service had finished - they rightly pointed out it hadn’t when they sat down! Fortunately a manager stepped in and they were served.

Good location as alsways. New setup but not justifying athe high price increase.

The new setup after refurbishment. More "open" space in the restaurant area. Bar area looking much better.

I was sitting in a corner of the restaurant and had to wait 1( minutes to get served. I had to stand to look for someone. Prices have been dramatically increased versus previous stays and I'm wondering if I will book again.

The refurbishment means the decor was good but doubling the price was appalling!

Price! All the plants cluttering up the place. Little space for toiletries and desk was cluttered.

charming & comfortable!

charming , cozy hotel with a nice updated room and in a great location . The lounge bar and dining room we’re comfortable & the food in the restaurant was delicious! we didn’t use the patio area due to cold and rain but it looked like a wonderful place to have a drink . they had nice amenities like tea nespresso biscuits water bottles for your room and a butler pantry for refills.

A nice place and very well positioned for town. The church clock starts chiming I think from about 7am which was slight

A beautiful old building, staff nice enough and the room was spotless.

The bed was comfortable enough for the price but pillows very uncomfortable for me. Electrical sockets were not well placed for mirror as I’m short sighted.

Great central location, amazing historic feel

central location and really welcoming and thoughtful staff

it is a historic hotel so there are stairs and no lift available but staff accommodated my father on the first floor and it was ok for him to walk this distance
