The location and the room
There was no connection to the tv and no pen and paper in the. Only two front of the house staff trying their best.

Reception has limited hours and this means things are charged to card on file without explicit permission. Found the policy for charging for splashes of lemonade to be extremely expensive and more than I’ve ever experienced anywhere in the world.

Loved the beautiful location. This is a wonderful property full of character and charm.
It’s clearly under new management. I stayed here three years ago and it’s gone down hill rapidly. When I checked in there was no one on hand, and a young girl peered down the stairs, clearly busy with housekeeping duties and declared she couldn’t check me in as she was busy, and the only one on duty. What a welcome! I explained that I’d already checked in online and just needed my key. Later I checked the menu as I’d invited two friends to dinner. I chose the wine and asked that it be chilled as on a previous visit the white wine had been served warm. I was assured that this would be done, but when we sat down to eat dinner several hours later, the wine was once again warm. When I mentioned this I was met with a shrug. The bread arrived during the main course after we’d been served and eaten our appetisers. There was no vegetarian amuse bouche for those non meat and fish eaters. Again, no apology or any effort to rustle up something. It was all very lack lustre and the food was mediocre. The room was not spotless. The lavatory was stained and in need of some bleach, and hairs found in the bathroom from previous guests. The tv didn’t work and no attempt was made by the chap I mentioned this to, and who seemed to be half heartedly running things. I was charged twice for the dinner and had to notify my bank when the hotel failed to respond to voicemails and email after I’d checked out. No one answers the phone. I wouldn’t stay here again, neither would I recommend.
