Overall a very good experience, notwithstanding the situation with the fire doors, outlined below. Staff were very helpful and left clear instructions when I later advised that I would be arriving after reception had closed. Dining in the bistro downstairs was also a very good experience. Enjoyed my stay and would absolutely stay there again on a future visit.
Fire doors in the corridor were left open throughout the building, on both visits, which was counterintuitive as there were printed instructions on the doors that they were be kept closed at all times. When raised with reception they were not aware of door status or reasons why. I elected not to pursue it as there was construction work underway on one of the floors, and the door status is an operational matter. That said, the staff should be aware of the requirements for those doors to be closed, and they should in fact be closed... or why have them?

Good location and great to have meals on-site
Loud renovations carried out early in the morning. Nothing exceptional for the price compared to other accommodation in Timaru
