The Youth Hostel was an easy 10-15 minute walk along the lake for the train station, and my room had a shared balcony overlooking the lake, so the location was brilliant. The breakfast was very nice, and the communal space was very nice to spend time in - clean, nicely decorated, and spacious.
Also, there's a discount for the nearby Brienz Rothorn Railway (which I highly recommend visiting - look on the hostel's own website for details).

The man working the front desk was always very nice and friendly, rooms and bathroom were cleaned daily, the hostel is right next to the shore of the lake

Common area. Next to the lake. Great break and good dining area. Staff was nice and live onsite
We got the 20beds dorm or sth. It was very hard to sleep as several people came around 1am and it kept waking me up.
Quite far from train station by walking.
