Home away from home

I could not have been happier with my time in PN, primarily due to the Esplanade Motel.

I was in Palmerston North for about 5 weeks, from late May until late June. I was traveling for work at Massey University, where I served as a temporary faculty for the summer, and I could not have had better accommodations. The Esplanade motel exceeded my expectations in every possible manner. The owners are absolutely lovely people, and made me feel at home for the entirety of my stay. I don't particularly enjoy traveling for as long as I did (5-6 weeks), but I could not have been made more comfortable during my time in PN. I was provided with fantastic venison burgers & ceviche by the owners, and they were extremely flexible with charging during my time, especially considering I was at their property for over a month. I will be back in PN later this year, and I already know 100% where I'll be staying- I wouldn't consider staying at any other property after my experience, which was again, absolutely top notch. I can't wait to get back and see the owners again- I highly recommend anyone traveling to PN, especially those who will be working at Massey (barely a mile to the campus), to stay at the Esplanade.

The only downside to my stay was that I was 16 hours ahead of the US, so the NBA finals were on at inopportune times. I had no bad experiences directly related with my stay at the Esplanade- the staff were lovely, the room was clean and I was provided with fresh linens multiple times a week. I can't complain about any part of my stay at the Esplanade, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for accommodations in Palmerston North.

Very good

Beds very comfy. Good facilities with toaster and kitchenette. Spa bath fabulous. Great sized room(s) and appreciated the table and couch. Staff very helpful and accommodating. Loved the Esplanade Park directly over the road.

Bang for ya buck.

Fantastic place for the price I paid. It was quiet and comfy there. The view wasn't great but not hard to get out and explore. The spa bath was pristine and the room was large

I didn't have the breakfast, I didn't know about it. The hosts are amazing. Tino pai te manaakitanga! The spa pool jets did not work.

Far better than photos do justice

Amazingly relatable interpersonal owner/staff, felt like we could approach them about anything. Nice comfortable environment and accomodation. Unfortunate not to give the spa bath ago! Lots of utilities included, fridge, kettle, microwave.

Neighbours were only partially loud but not to fault of accomodation, only loud if windows of both parties are open, through wall noise bleed is honestly not very bad. Didn't fully understand the deal with using the pull out couch but didn't ask staff about it, assume they don't want people breaking it by not knowing how to set it up. So made do without it.

Not.clean.

The room was way too hot. No air-conditioning. The one fan in the bedroom was full of dust and not able to be put on. Mould in bathroom around bath, and on sheer curtains on room and.licinig area.

I would have given a better review but the spa bath was not working properly and the freezer was not clean. Other than that it was a beautiful visit to Palmerstion North thank you for having us Please fix the spa bath in room 8 for the next person who uses it thanks Merry Christmas

Hate to leave a poor review, but honest reviews are important!!! We regretted booking this place.

Parking out front. Reception was pleasant.

Of all the places we stayed in NZ, this was our only disappointment. We did not feel comfortable here. The kitchen table was dirty and dusty. The sofa covering was not very clean. The furniture was outdated.

Comfortable and pleasant will consider staying again

The guy i dealt with amazing so kind and helpful im a motel manager myself and he was so easy to deal with and accommodating cleaning staff just lovely ☺️

Tv only badic channels and not a smart tv was was stuck with what was on bed while nice clean linens abit outdated left with a terribly sore back (but i have back issues anyway)couch ok but kinda would sink

The owner was very helpful and friendly. The rooms and bathrooms are clean and nice 👌 Very comfortable and affordable place to stay 👌 I love and enjoy my staying there with my family
