**Excellent stay for exploring north-east Madeira** We had a wonderful family stay at Casa das Proteas. The location is perfect for exploring the north-east of Madeira, just a few minutes from PR18 Levada do Rei and close to the start of PR9 Levada do Caldeirão Verde. The beautiful Miradouro do Guindaste is also nearby and is an amazing spot for sunrise. Luis was a perfect host, very welcoming and happy to give us great recommendations, including where to go for dinner. The breakfast served by Anna was delicious and a lovely way to start the day. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable, with excellent beds, so we all slept very well. A genuinely lovely place to stay, and we would happily return!
