Ahmed Safari Camp is een heel fijne plek om geheel tot rust te komen. Het personeel is heel vriendelijk en je ze helpen je graag als je bijvoorbeeld een tour wilt maken.
Op de foto's zie je een zwembad, maar deze is buiten gebruik. Dat was jammer. Gelukkig zijn er rondom het hotel meerdere warmwaterbronnen waar we konden zwemmen.

Breakfast was the same each day. Boiled eggs, flatbread and salad. The owner graciously arranged transportation from the Cairo airport to the camp for us (about a 5 hour drive). We were unable to stay overnight in the desert so he arranged a day trip to the White Desert for us and a tour of Bawati village with the same driver who was excellent. He also arranged a different driver to return us to Cairo who was so concerned for our welfare even though he spoke little English! A true gentleman!
The WiFi was slow but they did something to speed it up a bit which helped a lot!

Grounds are peaceful and relaxing, with cats, chickens, and pheasants roaming around. Date palms and Bougainville throughout. Environment conducive to writing. Rooms were small but clean and charming. Bath area was comfortably sized for a shower but not fancy. Staff was friendly especially if you say some greetings and ‘thank you’ in Arabic. Food portions were generous. I was expecting a really rustic ‘camp’ because of the name, so it exceeded my expectations. I would return. The host, Ezz, speaks English and arranged for our private transfer from Cairo and then on to Luxor by car. Paid $350 in Nov2025, which is not cheap, but ok for our needs. Tour to Black Desert, Crystal Mountain, and White Desert are not to be missed! Our driver Ala (brother of Ezz) even found me some fresh camel milk when I requested! Delicious, and not smelly like goat milk 😀.
The bed could have been more comfortable, but for the price and location in the middle of nowhere, I can’t complain. Breakfast and dinner were the same both days, so no variety. Breakfast is included with the stay. But our dinners were complimentary because we had given them enough business with transfers and day tour (with picnic lunch) to Black Desert, Crystal Mtn., and especially the impressive White Desert. You can also choose to have overnight stay in the White Deert with dinner and breakfast. I wish I could have gone! Best to negotiate full board, if staying long because there are only 2 eateries mentioned in the tour book, and you’ll need a car.
