Great place would definitely stay there again. Great value for money.

The location was perfect, beach front with a surf break right out the front. The staff were awesome! They would go above and beyond. Food was great as well.

Directly on the beach fabulous for walks. As budget hotels go it was perfect for what you need. The view of the sea was stunning

Rooms are dated could benefit from investing in new beds, the two nights we stayed was grand, fridge had seen better days.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Insight Resort Ahangama with my wife to celebrate our first-year anniversary, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable, starting with a warm and heartfelt welcome that instantly made us feel special. The resort itself is situated in a stunning location, offering breathtaking views of the ocean. Our room featured a private balcony overlooking the serene waters, providing us with the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the picturesque surroundings. The accommodations were clean, spacious, and well-appointed, with comfortable furnishings that ensured a restful night's sleep. Overall, our anniversary getaway at Insight Resort Ahangama was nothing short of extraordinary. The warm welcome, surprise anniversary cake, breathtaking views, attentive service, and excellent amenities all contributed to an unforgettable experience. A 3 star property which can be 4 star but currently values around 2.7 star

It's a 3 star property which could be a 4 star just by modifying little bit of their services. Beach front is good, interiors are good

Buffet variety, restaurant has limited menu, staff is not very prompt and courteous as what we experienced in rest of the island. However some staff are exception to this but you can't expect the same person to serve you daily

Stunning beach location and friendly staff

The location is amazing right on the beach, and is perfect for surfing with Marshmallows surf spot directly out front! The staff were so warm and friendly, attending to every need, we felt very welcome.

Breakfast could have had a little more variety, but the food you could order from the menu for lunch/dinner was a good standard.

The service was super helpfull, paid a lot of attention to every detail and kept everything very clean. The room had amazing facilities and views.

A great resort and a very comfortable stay - other than for some mosquito issues.

We were the only people staying at the resort so were very well looked after by the staff.

Power outages meant eating by candlelight only and thus unable to see mosquitos - and these were active unfortunately.

Sea turtles hatching on the beach - unexpected evening entertainment!

The manager and restaurant staff were really friendly and grounds were well maintained. The pool was clean and the poolside furniture was nice. While we were there we were lucky enough to see sea turtles hatching on the beach in front of the hotel which the manager told us to go an see while we waited for our evening meal. The breakfast was good and consisted of fresh fruit, bread and omelette with a choice of sides. When available the fresh coconuts were really good! All of the staff were doing their best however the hotel was unusually quiet (we were told by the staff) so i hope people continue to visit Sri Lanka to help rebuild the economy. Not once did we feel unsafe while we traveled round the island.

When we checked in we weren't given any information about the hotel in terms of where the pool was, how breakfast worked etc. we were just handed wrist bands and sent to our rooms. When we asked what the bands were for we were told just to keep them. We later read that this was so the security staff on the gate could identify you when you wanted to reenter the resort. The first morning we were there we thought we had missed breakfast which ended at 10am so we came down around 10.40am to go out to get something and explore the area when the wait staff who was clearly not happy said he had waited a long time for us to come for breakfast and that a table had been reserved. We were so embarrassed to have kept the staff waiting but this could have been avoided if the process was explained at check in. There were marks on the bed sheets in one of our rooms and holes in the sheets in another room, once the staff were alerted they did change them. The bathroom had a vent that lead straight on to the corridor which was a little odd and the paint was peeling in the rooms which are ready to be redecorated. The majority of the drinks menu was unavailable and most of the vegetarian options on the poolside menu were also unavailable. I understand there are supply issues at the moment and i don't blame the hotel at all for this however maybe adapting the current menu to show what meals/drinks were unavailable would be a good idea.
