The place was just beautiful. The pool area is so pretty and the rooms have big beds and beautiful clean bathrooms.
I would have preferred a different looking area for the breakfast. I think that can improve.

We stayed at Spice Trails, Ahangama, for two nights. The property has a small number of rooms and is very well maintained, with lots of greenery all around, creating a peaceful atmosphere.
The staff deserve a special mention for being polite, welcoming, and attentive. Our room was exceptionally clean, and the outdoor bathroom added a rustic touch to the overall experience.
Breakfast was really good. They have a menu with a selection of options, allowing you to choose what you like, and a small restaurant on the property serves breakfast.
For families, I would recommend considering the family room rather than the superior room we stayed in, as it may be a more suitable option.
1. Long waiting time for lunch and dinner
Lunch and dinner are sourced from their other restaurant located at the beach. The waiting time can be around an hour, which is quite long when you’re waiting for a meal. Having food prepared on-site or improving delivery time would make a big difference to the dining experience.
2. Expensive packaged drinking water
Packaged drinking water was considerably more expensive at Spice Trails than at other hotels. During our two-night stay at Weligama Bay Marriott, we found the price of packaged drinking water to be significantly lower. More reasonable pricing for basic essentials like drinking water would improve the overall value for money. (olu still Water)
3. Bathroom facilities and water pressure
The bathroom does not have a hand shower, which would make bathing much more convenient. Additionally, the water pressure was quite low and fluctuated during our stay, making both handwashing and bathing less comfortable than expected. Ensuring consistent water supply and adequate pressure would significantly improve the bathroom experience.
4. Basic amenities not provided
Basic amenities such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, and shower caps are not provided, as the property follows an eco-friendly approach. While we appreciate their efforts to be environmentally conscious, having these essentials available on request would be helpful. A shower cap is particularly useful when there is no hand shower.
5. Room mirror and lighting
One of the mirrors in our room was quite old and difficult to use, so replacing it would be a good improvement. The rooms also receive limited natural sunlight because of the surrounding greenery. Better indoor lighting would make them feel brighter and more comfortable.
