Staying at a Ryokan is a must do experience when you visit Japan, and doing it in Kyoto feels just right! The staff was terrific, friendly, and attentive. The kaiseki dinner was superb! Such a wonderful meal served in your room and then having the room set up for sleeping was a new experience. The baths were super clean and relaxing. The traditional breakfast was quite a meal, certainly very different for western tradition. When you checkout you get a few little presents to keep, including chopsticks and a toiletries bag.
Overall our experience was great.

Very well located. We chose breakfast and dinner and both were simply brilliant. The facilities are very clean. Staff are extremely helpful and likely my child said. “They are very kind” we were all very impressed with attention to detail. They even polished and cleaned our shoes 🥰
Having window blinds would be great because the light comes in really early. We chose to sleep with eyeshades.
