a fantastic location on the beach. It is near one of the supermarkets. The owner Andres, his assistant Julio and the tour guide Jorge were very friendly and helpful. We went to see the sea turtles at night, took a boat trip of the lagoon and took a daily tour of the Tortuguero national park. Andres lent us wellington boots after exceptional rain flooded most of the village for a couple of days.
The common kitchen area could do with a bit of renovation but overall this did not impact how we enjoyed our stay.

We were greeted by Sebastian upon arrival to Tortuguero and he pointed out all of the local facilities and points of interest on our walk to the hostel. The view from our balcony was also fantastic for sunrise over the ocean. We had the place to ourselves!
The hostel as a whole looked like it was in need of some TLC with tools and paint scattered around the garden and issues with our room door locking.

Staff seemed very organised
You have to walk like 500m across town, my guide didnt offer to carry a bag. The place generally has a run down feel, even though it was freshly painted. Common area was abit grimy and electrical sockets were hanging off etc

Nice location in front of the ocean
Pictures of the location don’t represent the facility at all! Very small and old bathroom. The common kitchen sticks the moisture like crazy.
