Jagat Palace is a beautiful heritage building filled with old furniture and bric a brac. The stuff in my room looked as old as the hotel; not especially to my taste, but it suited the building and it was comfortable. It was nice having a fridge in there.
Food service was a bit unconventional (staff member asleep on the floor first day, buffet the second day which they were still setting up at 9am when I’d finished, super organised on the third day…..) but the quality was pretty decent. I also ate in the restaurant one evening. Only me there but the food was excellent.
The jewel in the hotel’s crown is undoubtedly the gardens and pool, even though the guy in charge of the pool towels is always asleep. And it’s a bit annoying (but amusing) having to compete with the local monkeys for access to the pool. There’s another staff member employed to get rid of them with his catapult, but he has a habit of going awol at the critical moment.
The electrics were old, and the aircon looked (and sounded) like a 1960s relic but it worked ok.
I had a few issues during my stay - no hot water on the first night, a leaking bath, wi-fi dropping out, tv remote not working - but the staff sorted everything out (eventually!)

Trotz Nebensaison mit wenigen Gästen hervorragender Service bei überaus nettem und bemühtem Personal. Der Pool war riesig und sehr gepflegt. Die ganze Anlage ist toll angelegt und gleicht einem tropischen Garten mit Springbrunnen und Hollywood-Schaukeln, was abends zusätzlich sehr geschmackvoll beleuchtet wird.
Das Bad ist sauber, aber etwas rustikal. Die Klimaanlage funktional, jedoch nicht "flüsterleise".

Magnifique hôtel traditionnel, superbe jardin, belle piscine
La chambre sentait très fort la naphtaline, tous les équipements sont d’un autre temps : prises électriques limite dangereuses (étincelles), le Wifi est quasi nul, AC très très bruyante et vieille, aucun support ou crochets pour les serviettes.
