Wonderful hotel, beautiful views, excellent staff

One of the best places I've ever stayed. The staff are brilliant and attentive, Lakmal really looked after us. The food is really good, the pool area and sea view is beautifully calming, and the room is excellent quality.

Overall it was pleasant stay ..

Staff was very kind and helpful , One of the best hospitality i ever received .It's kind quite place not much disturbance around .

The pool I feel there should be enough board to display the depth of pool . There was only display one at the starting which was 1.2M as its much lower and other 2.0M and the end which is almost not visible especially in day time . Since People don't know swimming could risk there life . Happened with my wife she was just walking and its slide down like slope to depth she could't control because of water flow .enter into much deeper depth as i was there i was able to save her on time .That was scariest moment .

No local beer, then were told they would get some, but then didnt and said we must drink Carlsberg.

Fantastic stay at Lantern

Started very well and only improved. Arrived very early in the morning and they let us stay in one of the suites until our room was ready. Much appreciated as was travelling with our young daughter. Hotel is set right beside the beach. Beautifully and tastefully decorated and furnished. Three cabana style loungers with palm trees either side. Good sized rooms, comfy bed and decent shower. Staff v helpful and attentive. Food excellent. The rice and curry was superb. Thank you chef and his team!! Small bar beside good sized pool. We were lucky enough to see turtles coming up the beach to lay their eggs. There is a local hatchery which visits and let’s you release the lil fellas into the sea. Quite magical. Hotel has such a good chilled vibe. Beach is very secluded and not busy at all. They don’t recommend swimming but it’s up to you. I swam and lived to tell the tale. Water lovely.If you want nightlife and partying it’s just a tuk tuk ride away in Mirissa. Thoroughly recommend a stay here.

It was just great!

Amazing long beautiful beach. Sometimes you could see turtles' head in the sea, they come up to breath. It is possible to swim at the beach, for small kids a bit too risky, but there is a pool and it is perfect. The room and balcony were great.

The WC in the room has no celling, when you pee all the members of your family hear it.

Amazing staff, food and rooms.

We stayed in the Lantern for 2 nights and loved it so much we wanted to stay for a 3rd (unfortunately fully booked). The rooms are stunning and some of loveliest and tentative staff we met throughout our 11 Day trip. The food was also extremely good

the sea was too rough so want allowed to swim in the sea. However, there is a bay a few hundred meters down the beach.

unforgettable stay

Being like home - just even better. This is how I would describe our stay in Lantern boutique hotel. From the outstanding service, beautiful location directly at the beach, spacious rooms - especially the suite located on the ground floor with its own terrace. Everything is topped by it’s open kitchen where you can see the chefs magic happening. The meals here are all fresh made using herbs and vegetables from the property own garden. We had just breakfast booked but stayed for lunch/ dinners because it’s absolutely worth it! Prices are fair and location is top (Weligama bay is 10-15 mins away). If you’re looking for a relaxed stay with outstanding service this is your place. thank you so much for making that stay unforgettable!

Overall not worth the money for what you get

Really loved the beach front views and that it was a little away from the main Mirissa beach which is rubbish

So much over development now around. Hideous tower blocks going up. We asked hotel to arrange airport taxi for us on last morning. They quoted 39,000 SKR which they reduced to 35,000 after questioning why it was so high. We ended up just arranging our own for 17,000 which was far more in line with what we were expecting to pay. A real let down that the hotel which you pay a lot for is trying to take such a ridiculous cut from arranging transportation. You can not swim at the beach or anywhere near the hotel. You have to travel 5km either direction despite what hotel staff tell you

Beautiful hotel and location made better by the wonderful staff - Will definitely be back again!

The staff were incredibly helpful answering any queries we had and with organising day trips or transport. They also helped organise our PCR tests before flying home. The hotel is in the perfect location, serving amazing traditional cuisine and within a short distance from the main beaches and restaurants in Mirissa. The rooms are very spacious with beautiful views of the beach!

amazing hotel

the staff is so warm and welcoming. they set up a romantic beach dinner for us every night. the food is amazing. we saw a turtle come and lay its eggs on the beach. the beach area is gorgeous and the pool is really nice too.

Absolute Ocean View

Lovely location overlooking the Ocean. Sitting on the balcony in the morning watching the sun rise was very special. The pool and beach beds were perfect too.

The hotel is sandwiched between the main road and the ocean and it is difficult to escape the sound of traffic. The breakwater on the beach in front of the hotel was topped with old frayed and faded rice bags full of sand, unfortunately these are a bit of an eyesore.

Exceptional

Everything! The staff were beyond exceptional, extremely attentive and helpful going above and beyond. The room was stunning, a view over the pool and straight out to the rolling waves of the Indian Ocean. The pool was beautiful, perfect temperature and size. The hotel only has a few rooms so at no point did it feel overcrowded and you were able to get to know your fellow neighbours if you wanted.

EXCELLENT

Beach, breakfast ,room and location were excellent. We saw baby turtles on the beach just after they had hatched, a once in a life time experience. All, staff were happy, friendly and helpful and everyday our room boy made a different animal out of towels.

Perfect - Possibly the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in

Very attentive staff, beautifully presented and tasty food. Lovely pool which is long enough to swim properly. We were upgraded to a Suite which was fabulous. A tuk tuk to Mirissa Beach about 3kms away costs 350rps and there are loads of restaurants on the beach there. On our last night one of the staff took us to see a turtle laying eggs on the beach just by the hotel.
