If you want authentic this is the place for you ! If you want cookie-cutter accommodation you need to look elsewhere!
Hessel the host is super friendly and given i was the only guest for two nights, was happy to chat about his 12 year running the hostel, bringing the buildings back to life!
Excellent base for discovering Lysefjord .. as long as you plan your ferry times !
It wasn't an issue as I was the only guest, but if all 15+ beds had been occupied in the historic house I stayed in, tje one toilet and shower would be inconvenient.
Be aware, its a 150m assent to the house ..... if you have heavy luggage you'll know about it !

Lieu étonnant au bord du fjord, et au fond du fjord, accessible en ferry ou via une randonnée dans la montagne. Les hébergements sont disséminés dans le « village » et l’ancienne usine hydroélectrique fait office de point central avec un café / restaurant, une épicerie et un petit musée qui explique l’histoire de l’usine (qui ne fonctionne plus). Le gérant est très sympathique et parle très bien français. Et cette balade jusqu’en haut des 4444 marches le long de la conduite forcée… on a bcp aimé notre séjour malgré la pluie.
Les prix restent des prix norvégiens, les lits étaient un peu basiques.

The view of the Lysefjord from the kitchen and living/dining room is stunning. The reception staff was very helpful and quickly fixed the oven when we reported the issue.
There was no microwave, and unfortunately, the apartment 9A on the second floor had bed bugs. We had to dispose of some bedsheets and clothes to make sure we didn’t bring any back home.
