I stayed at Villa Maria Tayrona for three nights and it is genuinely a paradise. Staff were very friendly and attentive - Andres was super helpful and made great travel recommendations. Front desk staff was very responsive on WhatsApp and answered so many of my questions. The property is superb, right in middle of the jungle with huge space and nature to explore. The hotel did have power outage once during my stay but it came back up within few minutes. The hotel also has two Macaws you can watch and interact with. The restaurant has great selection of food- and they are delicious! Parque Tayrona is nearby, very convenient to go for a hike from the hotel using taxi or bus.

Because the hotel is situated in the mountains, wifi isn’t always consistent but a good reminder that you are meant to be there to disconnect .

This sprawling property is amazing and unique. Every bungalow has its own privacy, some have ocean view, why others do not. We resided in a two-story quadruple room above the restaurant and loved our location. There were no noise problems whatsoever and we enjoyed being close to the front desk and restaurant. The staff goes out of their way to help with whatever is needed, from carrying the suitcases up the hillside to ensuring that the food is prepared for our specific dietary requests. There are monkeys, numerous hummingbirds and 2 beautiful blue and yellow Macaw birds around the property at all times and the love and respect the staff has for those animals was obvious and touched our hearts.
Without a car, you are dependent on securing taxis or other transportation services, which is an additional cost.

The beach, pool, hotel grounds, spa and restaurant were all amazing. The staff are absolutely lovely, too. The coastal jungle location is just spectacular - we saw monkeys, iguanas, and tons of gorgeous birds, and loved being in nature.

The location next to the Tayrona National Park was great
We took two Guided Tours, booked through the hotel & they were very good & well managed
The site was showing it's age
The restaurant Staff were young & clearly not all that experienced in 'waiting on'. It was clear it was a job & not a vocation
The linen, particularly the towels, were very old & some were ripped or even bleach stained
No tea or coffee making facilities in the room, but there was a fridge, which seemed to be an after thought & didn't fit in well in the aesthetic of the room
Bottled water had to be paid for, even those that were in the fridge on arrival
The wardrobe was in the bathroom & the bathroom has no window frames only openings with mosquito screens. As the humidity was quite high, this meant the bathroom was very humid & any clothes hanging in the wardrobe got damp
