This was exactly what I wanted and expected. I skipped the resort and did a homestay with an island resident and her son.
Laura picked me up directly from the terminal, gave me flowers as a gift, gave me a brief driving tour through town explaining how to find the house. The lodgings were exactly as pictured, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was fully in service. Its a simple but charming place. Kitchen available. Laura dropped me back off at the airport and offered me a totem of protection for my travel, which worked because it was flawless.
If you would be uncomfortable in a rural farm type homestay you may prefer a resort. If you want to connect with the way of life then this is your place.
