Decent considering the price compared to anywhere else.

The location is great! The staff mostly speaks English which was helpful.

The bathroom was pretty small. Also our room wasn’t exactly clean, to the point that we asked for new sheets even to change them ourselves if they couldn’t clean it or move us to a new room. We never got the clean sheets. There were also crumbs & other things in the floor that were in the room when we got there.

Basic expectations of cleanliness and courtesy were not met.

The location at the Golden Zaan was very good. The train station was about a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel, and from there you could get cheap trains all across the country. The neighbourhood was charming and quiet, and there were nice places to eat within a 1-5 minute walk. About 7 minutes away there was a very lively area with a number of classy restaurants with street seating and indoor seating. It was also close to a very pretty canal.

The hallways and stairs were grimy and looked like they had not been vacuumed in a long time. Strong-scented febreeze units covered up odours in the hallways. If you get headaches from scents, beware. In the bedroom, the sheets were too small for the mattress, so almost as soon as you reclined on the bed they popped off the corners revealing a scratchy, stained, grimy mattress. The pillows were covered in yellowed, mismatched pillowcases that were far too large for the pillows. The walls of the bedroom were scuffed and the wallpaper was ripped in spots. The window in the room was so high up that you had to stand on a stool to look out of it, and the windowsill had come unglued, was loose, and had not been dusted in a long while. The bathroom featured a waterproof floor with a drain, and you pulled a curtain around one corner of the room for the shower. When you took a shower the whole bathroom got soaked. During the entirety of our stay, the room smelled like sewage, even though we kept the door to the bathroom shut at all times. There was a tv in the room, and the light from the remote receiver on the tv was covered up with band-aids so that it was not as bright. The back of the tv remote was missing and the batteries kept falling out. The staff was not very accommodating. Our booking confirmation, and the booking.com listing said that check-in time was 2pm. My friend and I showed up at 2:19pm, after one of the biggest storms the Netherlands had had in a decade. The streets were littered with fallen trees and branches, all stores and restaurants were closed, all public transportation was cancelled, and it was raining out. The host abruptly told us that we were too early to check in and that we had to come back in half an hour. He allowed us to set our baggage in a closet but then sent us back outside into the rain to walk around until our room was ready. Though a budget-priced hotel, basic expectations of cleanliness and courtesy were not met.

Staying in this hotel was a great decision, amazing value for money and fantastic service from staff.

Amazing staff, always happy to help with a smile. Property was clean and inviting with air con and lit rooms.

I’ve no complaints at all. Everything was exceptional.

It was only 2 stops of train away to centre.

Room was not clean. Bathroom everything was disgusting. Including towels.

Would come here again

Staff were helpful in telling us where to get breakfast at a good price. Fridge in room is very useful (combined with a travel kettle). Lots of places to eat in Zaandam at reasonable prices. Would go back there.

No kettle and drinks was a surprise but apparently they are available according to other reviews. Lack of a lift makes it difficult to get around.

Lovely place to spend time with friends without spending much

The staff was AMAZING, they did anything we asked for with a big smile. Zaandam was a very lovely place to visit and the position is very strategic

Look out for the lousy bikes "included" and also test their LOCKS. Forget about the Hotel's phone.

Location is very convenient in order to go and visit Zaandam mills park. Bed is comfortable, cleanliness is fine.

They DO NOT answer emails (I wrote twice) and DO NOT answer the phone (NEVER: an automatic responder was on all the time, and nobody called us back when we got in trouble with their faulty bikes, nor when a stranger came knocking at our door pretending that was his room ... !!). They knowingly provide clients with faulty bikes (faulty locks): it took them half an hour to "find the key" of one they gave us. Then, when we tried to unlock it after having parked the bike far away, it proved impossible (even with the help of a mechanic and much oil). And "of course" noboby was answering the phone at the hotel (over hours, in the middle of the day: auto-responder always on, no call-back from them). Last but not least THEY were upset when we manifested our disappointment when we finally managed to come back ... !!!!!

No thrills hotel conveniently located to centre of Zaandam

Was told at reception about breakfast at supermarket at rear of hotel for €2.50…. Excellent value

Very good

I like how comfortable the bed was.

The room is not clean, specially on the bathroom. There's lots of insects and the shower is not so spacious and smells a bit bad. The shampoo is already used just few drops and it's finished. Like almost all the guest stayed must use those.
