The hotel is good for those who are staying one or two nights. It is located at a closer distance to Julius Nyerere Airport than the more "touristy" areas such as Slipway, which makes it great for layovers or early transfers. The hotel also provides a simple breakfast of toast, jam, butter and instant coffee, which I have no complaints about and the staff were all very nice.
I would liken the hotel to what I imagine a motel would be like, in that you get what you pay for. However, I think that's to be expected at this price point and is great for travellers who are on a budget, like me.
The hotel is located centrally, which means it is close to spaces where many local people live and work, however, it is quite far from the more wealthy international neighbourhoods, so it depends on what your interest are within the city. I found it to be well located as I had an early flight and was more interested in getting to know a bit about the local culture/lifestyle, but if your interests are in other things, it may not be in the best location.
The floor in the bathroom was constantly flooded as I think the pipes from the toilet were leaking (although sandals were provided) and the room smelt like mould.
I was quoted $10 USD for a driver to pick me up from the airport by the hotel, but the driver decided to charge me $15 USD when I was paying at drop-off, quoting "rise in petrol prices", which would've been fine if I had been told beforehand, but it felt really underhanded (this is an issue with the driver, but I would recommend the hotel discuss this with him or find a new driver).

Oops I reviewed the wrong hotel!! Hotel Sofia in Dar es Salaam was good, pretty good location near the ferry, 10mins in a taxi. I arrived early and they let me check in early. Private room, shower was ok but didn’t get very hot water. The TV didn’t have the channels that were supposed to be there so wasn’t able to use it. I had to leave before breakfast the next morning to get to the airport so they let me have breakfast on my arrival day which was good. Basic breakfast did the trick. Was on the 3rd floor, no lift, but it was fine. Quiet hotel in the rooms and I felt safe walking around the area and in Dar es Salaam
The shower was a bit dodgy, loose pipes and no hot water. Only managed a pretty cold shower. Adjust the info about the channels on the TV. There were no movies, just mostly soccer

The hotel was fine for a short overnight stay before continuing our journey. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we appreciated having a place to rest after a late arrival.
The room could use some renovation and better maintenance. There were signs of moisture and mold on the walls, and the overall condition did not match our expectations.
