Casa del Sol, the place to be

Lovely place with a great vibe. Felt very welcome from the start. You won't be treated as a customer, rather as a guest and friend. The area is safe and quiet with a few places to eat in the neighbourhood. Just a few steps to the beach and a 10-15 min walk to the busy town center. Room was very spacious with a hammock in front and daily cleaning.

I liked it to much, ended up staying for 3 weeks

My absolute favorite stay in all of ecuador

Everything! The location is fantastic. On a cute, super safe street far enough away from the town to have serenity but near enough to walk in for the party, shopping, and restaurants. Staff were informative, available, and very kind and welcoming. Felt like old friends Breakfast was fantastic! Something different every day of the week which you hardly ever get in ecuador. Each breakfast was healthy, flavorful and yummy. The decor and ambiance give you such a sense of calm and welcome. They can hook you up with tons of stuff to do: surf lessons, board rentals, Spanish lessons, whale watching, reiki sessions, massage, trips to la isla de la plata, and on-site yoga classes every day.

I didn't like that I couldn't stay longer. :)

Really nice place in a quiet part of Montañita and just by the beach, the breakfast is excellent, different each morning. There's a lot of activities you can participate in (yoga, surf, spanish lesson) but it's also really nice to chill in the common parts

The only critic i could do it's maybe a little lack of equipment in the shared kitchen: there is only one pan so if several groups want to cook you have to wait until they finish

Small rooms, close to the beach but far from town

Nice bar and yoga options, close to the beach. However, the town is about 15 minute walk away. We expected more based on the other reviews.

Double Room we stayed in was very small and AC was very loud. Surf lessons rather expensive.

Exceptional

I am not a big fan of Montañita but this place is just lovely. It is a 15 minute walk out of the town center. You can also take a bike which is provided by the hostel. The outside area is nice and chill, the room and the bed are comfy. All facilities are tidy and clean. Very close to the beach. You can rent surf boards and even enjoy surf lessons from the countries longboard champions. Olón is a 30 minutes walk if you want surf at another beach. And if you are not into surfing or you want to stretch your sore muscles, join the yoga lessons. I travel alone and I felt like among friends there.

Perfect location

Cute hostel. Relaxing stay. Great yoga. Far from the noise of the city! Yet a 15 mins walk on the beach to the party central. The hostel is right on the point. Perfect for early surfing sessions!

Bring bug spray. Lots of mosquitoes.

Very nice for a few days stay or for an "easy traveler"

- nice place, cool atmosphere - great location and access to the beach - great yoga classes - renting surfboards for a good price - good food - very kind staff

- It was very noisy around, and the room doesn't have proper windows, so it was very hard to sleep here. - Could be a little bit better with the cleaning. The shower has never been cleaned. No shower gel, only one tiny soap for hands, which we used within one day and then we had to buy one. - Only one towel per person, so unless you want to wipe your face and butt with one towel, you should bring yours. :) - There is a fee for drinking water, which is quite unusual. Moreover, this information was not very well displayed, so we notices after 2 days.

Animal farm

- Very inviting common rooms. - Surfing, yoga and language school right from hostel. Not good value for money though. - Staff generally flexible with requests (new towel etc).

- There were about 6 dogs and three cats constantly fighting, barking at guests and disturbing the cooking. It spoiled the generally good atmosphere. Staff did not intervene at all. - Rain at night produced very loud noises on the roof. Hard to sleep. - Nothing for free (water, tea, coffee, etc.) - 25min away from center (a lot for a small town)

Perfect place to relax

Very nice and helpfull staff in general! surfing lessons were awsome🙌🏻. Also the location is perfect, just outside of the busy party places but not further then a 10 min walk from the city centre.

A place to relax and chill down

Good vibe, chilled and relaxed atmosphere, good breakfast, nice staff at the entire place. If you are to relax and chill down, head there. They have on-site Spanish teacher with very reasonable pricing. Owner super fair, I needed to move earlier than booked (on non-refundable reservation) however I received my money back for one night as soon as they find someone who took my previously booked room. It’s not the money itself, but super fair attitude that needs to be noted. Finally I stayed there 2 nights only but already felt like home and as if I knew the crew since ages.

Location is not necessarily good if you are willing to party in the center. If that’s the case though, you can grab taxi for less than 2 usd so finally not that big issue.

I stayed a total of 13 days. Simply an amazing hostel. Great staff, nice atmosphere to meet fellow travelers and its simply 30 meters to the beach. Perfect for someone who wants to relax but still enjoy Montañitas nightlife and vibe. Its in the nice and quiet (in my opinion best) part of montañita. The hostels set up is great. You have lots of areas to relax and chill. The heart piece of socializing is the “reception” which turns into a bar in the evenings. The hostel also offers quite a few tours, surf classes, yoga, etc. Shout out to Lauti, Alejo, Jackson, Tammy and the kitchen staff! Thank you for the nice stay 🙏🙂

Everyone was incredibly friendly. The yoga classes were fantastic. The breakfasts were up there with the best I’ve ever had in hostels. Set up of the whole hostel meant you could chill and find a quiet place but also be able to meet people at the bar. Also, the little bits of incense was a nice touch. Oo showers awesome too!

Partner found mattress uncomfortable but I guess everyone’s different! Maybe could put a small desk in the wooden rooms?

Friendly helpful staff, terrific breakfast and quiet location near beach. We have stayed here 4 years ago. Nice management team.

The room is good size with adequate hot water showers. Due to proximity of ocean, room can be a little musty.
