The chalets are situated directly on the most idyllic stretch of beach. Each morning you are just a few footsteps away from paradise. Watching the waves crashing onto the beach whilst eating a beautifully prepared breakfast is simply bliss. We wanted to stay longer than the 2 nights we had booked but sadly couldn’t. We will always remember the 2 days we spend at the mangrove chalets with a smile on our face.

On the beach property, excellent views and excellent staff
Incomplete bridge across the lagoon meant we had to climb down at 45-60 degree angle in the dark of the night when we arrived on a makeshift wooden plank ...was pretty scary with kids
Lots of ants and stray dogs ...could have been managed better
Family chalets had no bathroom door so I am little confused if this is only a honeymoon place ? if yes why they have 2 double beds and allow 4 ppl in one room?

Everything about the resort! Location was excellent, food was good, nice staff, big and clean rooms. Clean beach.
The approach to the hotel, the only broken wooden bridge. The rooms could have tea/coffee kettle too.

The location on the beach is just perfect, and your having your breakfast/lunch/dîner with an absolutely lovely view. you feel so privileged.
Food is incredibly tasty, the tuna was perfectly well cooked which is very rare!
You have to cross a little wooden bridge to get to the main part of the hotel which makes it a little adventurous!
The bed were really good quality, no noise, just the waves…
There is nothing remarkable really close, so you have to either wake up early to get to Yala or other places or simply decide to stay at the beach!

- Great location, cabins right by the beach with bar/restaurant. Several other places available small walk along the beach.
- Unspoiled beach as far as the eye can see
- Cabins are lovely, great outside seating area with an outside bed
- You have to cross a bridge across the lagoon and this is under construction, crossing is hazardous, it feels a little unsteady
- Non-guests come to the bar/restaurant to spend the day and sometimes use all the sunbeds and the hammock.

Awesome staff, very attentive, great food and location. The ocean has a natural swimming pool where you can snorkel and see fish/sea urchin.

Stunning unspoilt beach in both directions, with a slightly protected area so it was possible for 8/11 yr olds to swim. Chalet was spacious and comfortable. Really friendly, welcoming and helpful team, with a special mention for Akila.
It would be helpful to have more wall hooks, for hanging clothes & wet towels.

Stunning place in the middle of a wildlife nature paradise! Amazing location with the seaside view - nothing better than waking up to the sound of the ocean! Very clean, spacious beach houses and great restaurant at the place - it's worth to come here to experience an ultimate peace, wellness and relax.

These beach cabanas are so much better in real life! They are truly amazing! Gorgeous design with heavenly views. It's a real paradise. Akila makes the best cocktails on the planet. Gorgeous food flavoured carefully with local herbs and spices. Just so exceeded expectations and my favourite place in all Sri Lanka!
It's quiet so if you bore easily go elsewhere..this is remote paradise and time to detox from the stresses of real life.

Wow, what a fantastic location on a beautiful beach. No you can’t quite swim in the sea, but we (family of 4, kids age 3&7) played in the surf in the safe area in front of the of the rock for hours. Chalets are clean, private and spacious. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was great and we loved sitting watching the sea from the restaurant.

Amazing huts with a pristine beach on your doorstep. Can’t beat waking up to the ocean view. The beach bar is also very nice and we had welcome drinks when we arrived. The rooms were great, big and airy with very large and comfortable beds. Staff was very nice and friendly!

The location is private, beautiful and simply unrivalled. You have the mangroves behind the hotel area and the beach and ocean in front of it. The chalets are large, beautifully decorated, well maintained and the cleanest we saw in Sri Lanka. The restaurant makes lovely food, especially if you go for the Sri Lanka options! Super friendly and service minded staff and helped us with late check out and by organising a taxi for is. Just couldn't say a single bad thing about this place. Will never forget our stay here!

The resort was beautiful - we loved the bar, the direct access to beach and use of canoes in the mangroves. Staff were lovely. The beach is one of the few places you could swim along the coast (there is a rock which acts as a wave break just in front of the hotel) meaning lots of people walked down from other resorts and used the sunbeds/bar - we didn't resent this at all as it meant good business for the hotel at this difficult time for the Sri Lankan economy, plus more of a vibe at the restaurant. The resort also had a generator which was good with the power cuts.
Room was slightly more basic than we expected, this wasn't a huge problem for us as we didn't spend much time in the room and only stayed 2 nights, but had we stayed longer a wardrobe / hairdryer etc. would have been welcome additions.

Amazing location; miles of beach to ourselves, a safe area to swim in the sea behind a bit of reef, beautitful palm trees, sands, baby turtles.
Food was variable. Really slow servic. Fish was often over-cooked and pancakes raw batter. Odd breakfast choices. Powdered coconut in Pina Colada, when there are coconuts falling all around. Wifi not working. 5% charge on using credit card.

Stunning view right on the beautiful, endless beach. Very friendly staff who try to fulfil all wishes (special thanks to Rawidu). Our sea view room was large and clean. A small wardrobe, fridge and air conditioning would make it even more perfect. But the fantastic location, the great service, and delicious food and drinks made it an unforgettable holiday for us. We will be back!

We loved our stay at Mangrove Chalets!
The location is beautiful, peaceful and idyllic. Our bungalow was one of the semi-detached ones which was comfortable and clean with mosquito nets on the windows and a fan (no AC but not needed with the sea breeze).
The beach is lovely and you can dip in the sea to cool off behind the breakwater. We didn’t leave the property at all in our 5 night stay!
What really made our experience were the staff who were all lovely, attentive and went the extra mile consistently. Special thanks to Akila who was the perfect host.
The food was also really good, freshly prepared to order at any time, and varied menu for a longer stay.
Be aware that there is a 3% additional charge for paying on card which was not clear to me from
booking.com

This is one of the most unique and calming places I have ever visited. The chalets are situated in an immaculately kept, sandy mangrove forest with immediate access to a long, pristine, undeveloped beach. The staff have a wonderful laid-back but attentive attitude, and their chef is an exceptional cook. Some people have mentioned that the sea is a little rough - but there is a long breakwater outside the hotel that creates a relatively calm and fun environment to swim in.
For me, this was the perfect place to stay to get my head together before heading back to London - it is utterly tranquil. Being situated in a deep mangrove-type forest makes for a unique experience. Highly recommend.

Amazing location. Away from everything on a beautiful postal card beach. However it's impossible to swim so be aware.
Nice staff that cater to all our needs.
Rooms are ok. You don't pay for the quality of the room you pay for the location and the view and the outside area that has long chairs, hamac and tables to have food and drinks.
I should have stayed longer.
Just know that the honeymoon chalet is big, beautiful, comfortable and away from the others. And has an amazing outside shower. However it doesn't have a beach view.

Beautiful place without noise, cottages in a palm grove, a few meters to the sea, a beach bar with friendly staff, sunbeds and umbrellas, everything is very simple and clean. Nearby great massage and pleasant restaurant Sha Sha.
You can't swim here in the sea, it's dangerous for big waves.

The chalets are really secluded, you can relax here without people around. Food in the restaurant is good, especially fish. Overall, the location is very picturesque and isolated from the rest of the world.
Though I initially liked the minimalistic design, it turned out the room was pretty uncomfortable. There was no AC, no fridge, very dark in the room, no hangers or shelves in the bathroom. No pool, and given the limited space available for swimming in the ocean (knee-high), there's pretty much nothing to do. Staff are somehow weird, making inappropriate comments sometimes. It would also be nice if there were some wooden/stone paths to walk, not only sand.

It is right at the beach. very nice atmosphere, great cozy bar / restaurant with great food right at the seaside. Also suitable for vegans. Super friendly staff. One of the most important features we liked is that they don't play music and you can really enjoy the beautiful sound of the sea. The rhythm of the waves. Can highly recommend this place!

The location is perfect. The chalets are straight to the beach. The outside bathroom is really nice. Palm trees everywhere, it's really beautiful. The food and drinks at the bar/restaurant are really good and not expensive. The staff are nice also. You can swim in front of the restaurant: you have a safe place to swim from the big waves. Perfect for family and couples!
We didn't have the wifi in our chalets. Only at the bar/restaurant. But it didn't bother us!

This hotel was a taste of paradise. Amazing location on the beach, very few people on this beach, very friendly and helpful staff, spacious room decorated with great taste. We decided to prolong our stay as we loved it so much, highly recommend !
