Hidden Gem

This was a very last minute booking. Just to have a roof over my head for 2 nights In such cases, there's really not much to expect. I still regret not blindly booking my entire stay there. Sofia Sea view is one of the hidden gems on the Island. Right at the white sandy beach; something they don't even mention but should. The team on the ground: Friendly, respectful,, dedicated and they go out of their way to make sure your stay is above pleasant. Remo literally ran up and down with me to make sure I had a roof over my head post Sofia view. The owners of Sofia are a true gem. Reached out to offer alternative accommodation at a sister facility(which is extremely amazing and a good stay but good for families or or group stays).I am a very fussy character and we must believe me when I say EVERYTHING at Sofia view is top notch. I lost and left my heart in Pwani Mchangani @Sofia view. My review is basic and Standard . The best review is the experience that no words can express. And yes,once you stay there, you become family. Definitely going back in February 2023

Disappointing

The staff recieved us with a smile, the breakfast was tasty and good, the beach is beautifull,

The erea is define as private beach of the hotel and there is also a small and private swiming pull for guests only, but when we were there ,there was many other people that the oner let them come in even thoght there were not guests, there wasnt enough beach chairs for us and also the staff put a massage bed at the entrance of our room and for 3 hours there were people doing body treatment there. It felt like many basic things that was supposed to be according to the website description didnt happen. It was crouded and noisy, for cleaning the room 6 (!) People was in our room for long time, half of them were just friends that came for talking with the one who cleanned. It was not respectful and disturb our privacy

VERY OVERPRICED! POOR QUALITY!

the view and location right on the beach food was good but limited menu

Very poor quality room for the price Taxi did not turn up to pick us up from airport No tea or coffee making facilities in the room We stayed in the king room which had a very average bed in one room, no toiletries in the dated bathroom and a big empty room which is advertised as a kitchen/lounge For this price the facilities were terrible, zero attention to detail and one of the worst places we have stayed for this budget. Maybe for a third of the price it would be ok. No management on site and the owner, when we finally got in touch, was very unhelpful and clearly focussed on money and not guest experience. After our initial complaint about the poor room quality and facilities we were offered half board and a free excursion to persuade us to stay. However, a couple of days later, the room flooded and soaked a lot of our belongings! We had to leave and stay elsewhere which was cheaper and 10x better in tikitam palms. We requested the refund for the 3 nights and were offered a partial refund only if we wrote a good review. In the end we received two nights refund which was a battle. This hotel has been under new management since April this year so bear this mind and owner requests good reviews before providing refund for bad service.

Our stay was perfect

Today we left the hotel after 8 days I have no words to describe what this amazing team did there to give us the most fun vacation ever Lily, an amazing woman, always and always took care of everything that was needed, that we ate on time, always with a smile It was very difficult for me to leave there thanks to her The amazing Remo who was always at our service and took us on a tour and made sure we had a good time, always with a wide smile and joy, he and Lily organized a surprise for my husband's birthday, brought cake and wine and threw him a little party at the bar, it was really exciting to see how the whole team danced and sang with us The driver on the first day saw that I was lying (I didn't bring a top) and got me a top from the city Anna always with a smile and joy of life And the food, what food!!!! There are no such things on the island, I came to the hotel following recommendations about the food and I was really happy to see that I was not wrong Everything is clean and shiny!! The most delicious food on the island, served at the same time hot and fresh We were not ready to miss any meal at the hotel, even if we went on trips, my husband told me he wanted to go back to the hotel to eat My post is long but definitely not enough to describe this amazing experience Team number one, thanks to him we had an amazing trip I will return there with my children soon

Paradise

Everything was perfect. Absolutely recommend it. Perfect place, staff, food, beach. We felt like in paradise. Next year we will definitelly come back. Don't hesitate.

Great accommodation. Great food. Great Staff. Value for money.

We booked in for half board & were not disappointed as Azziza & Rashid, the chefs are excellent at their craft. As Sofia only has 3 rooms, the chefs were able to pretty much cook anything we requested within reason. Breakfasts were good and varied & supper was our own choice during our 7 night stay. We sampled everything from a seafood platter to local curries & all were excellent. Our room was spacious & well furnished & the aircon. worked very well. The pool was great for cooling off as the beach was not as clean as we would have liked. The seaweed harvesting was interesteng to watch & also the "planting' of a new harvest during our stay. All The staff were very friendly & keen to make our stay as good as possible. Thanks to Natty, Lily, Davide, Zuhura, Thelma & the gardener (sorry forgot his name) Apologies for any names misspelt!! We definitely recommend Sofia Sea View for those travelers who are looking for a quiet break with great food etc. & whilst it would be good to be close to the local village in normal circumstances, we found that due to the Covid situation we were reluctant to interact. (our choice)!

Sofia is situated in a local fishing village with little else close by. Just the odd other resort, so a little quiet for us. We found the beach quite scruffy which was disappointing as there is a nursery school on the one side of Sofia & an informal creche on the other & they did not clear their part of the beach, but left lots of washed up rubbish above the high tide line. It's a shame they don't teach the children about the environment & have a clean up organised involving the village. We would have gladly joined in to help.

Exceptional

The location is perfect. Breakfast was amazing with different choice. Staff is very attentive to guests and details. Very good and fresh fish, seafood. Grilled octopus was unforgettable. Good wi-fi in a case you need to work remotely.

Best service most wonderful staff

The personal attention we got from the staff. Naughty Nathi, Mr Cool - David, lovely Lilly and the Magic chef Rashid. They made our holiday special. I have travel constantly and have never seen or experienced service like I have here. Strong wifi Wonderful food. Lovely pool Big comfortable rooms The fresh juice

The beach. Although the most beautiful of all the beaches I saw. And we went everywhere. The beach is polluted with plastic. The local people do not care for the environment. And they have seaweed farms in the ocean which make it impossible to swim. Such a shame as it would have been a different experience if the beaches were clean and the ocean free of farms.

Paradise Getaway

Just about everything. It had the level of exclusivity we needed as a couple. Our suite was spacious and generally a very clean facility with excellent staff. Key points: Our section of beach was kept much cleaner than the rest of the stretch Our manager is agreat tour guide too so we didn't struggle for activities The kitchen was efficient and quite generous Shower was amole with great water pressure 24/7 Excellent WiFi A great sea view from our room, the pool decka nd dining areas Easy access to a nice white dand beach

It wasn't clear that airport transfers were an extra cost but this was a minor issue. Menue did feel a bit restricted but we cane to appreciate that this is not an uncommon thing on the island. I wish the facility had POS available on site

If you want to experience the real Zanzibar, then Sofia is the place where you want to stay.

Staying at Sofia was the best experience in hospitality that I experienced so far. The food prepared by Rashied and Aziza is exceptional. Lili and David will always ensure that you eat and drink good and take care of you like friends. Naty will show you around all places. Zu will be there for you to ensure that your room is always clean and nice smelling. Machanu aka "silent man" will take care that all is neat and no disturbance occur. At evenings the "shadow men" will assure your safety. And of course, the host Mr. A is a wonderful discussion partner, he'll always have a nice story to share, his calmness and serenity is exactly what you need in a vacation. In spite his youth, his wisdom is impressive. Wonderful 2 weeks vacation which I highly recommend to anyone if you want to have a life changing experience, batteries of your life totally reset. I liked all that I saw, experienced, smell, tasted, visited..... at Sofia you can experience the real, true Zanzibar.

Quite place directly at the seaside with excellent food

The place is amazing. Very quite and right at the sea side. We had breakfast and dinner at the beach every day. the dinner was excellent, we had grilled mixed fish plate with lobster octopus, scampi and fish. We highly recommend the Sofia Sea View Hotel. Thanks alot to all the staff!

Heaven !

I stayed in the Villa for four nights. It's a bit 'shabby chic', but very reasonable for the fair price. The staff at Seaview made my stay very comfortable. Service was smooth and everybody was so friendly and helpful. As as a solo female traveller, I was apprehensive to be in a new country alone, but my worries were completely gone after one night. The breakfast and food are incredible at Sea View and Nati is very helpful and knowledgeable. This place is a peaceful, calm home from home and I will return.

Pillows and Mattress could be better. I woke up pretty stiff every morning and usually don't have that problem.
