Very clean and spacious lodge. Comfortable bed. Very good breakfast

Ideally located for touring the area and the pods were very comfortable.
It would have been nice to have comfortable seating on the small patio area off the bedroom. Also have the area paved rather than the stones and wood chips.

Breakfast was excellent but just a bit too much food
Lighting in room could be better. Room not cleaned until we asked, and it was done very late

The Pub/Hotel was clean and all staff were lovely. I picked this property due to its price (I had received a discount through Booking.com having Genius status) and where I needed to be the next day. Personally I would not have paid more for what I had. The room was enough for my needs and it was nice to have a bathroom with a mirror that did not mist up with steam, seeing there was no window in the room. I know its the little things, but these are the things that would make me book again. It was nice to be able to open a window rather than have those locks that only open a little as we are scared you are going to jump out. I had opted to use a portable fan in my room, to save road noice, but the only traffic was local farm vehicles etc. The dining room for dinner was clean and the menu was varied. Staff were very nice. My starter of salt and pepper calamari was lovely and so much of it. Not so on the main meal. My breakfast in the morning was amazing. The chef was on hand to tell me that the produce was local and the food was very filling. There was also pastries, cereals, tea and coffee on self service.
As I said the price was good, but if I had paid more I would not be happy. There is no alternative near, so this is the only place (as far as I could see) that you could eat and sleep. The food (in my eyes), was overpriced, but the only place to eat. I opted for the curry (I always say to others don't opt for a curry in an English pub, you will not be happy. And I did). Note to self. But it tasted fresh and home cooked, just not a curry. The price was too expensive at £19.00. In the bedroom there was a very bright green light showing where the door was, the light was too bright and even when my eyes were closed you could see the light. This has only every happened in another hotel in Barnstaple, so it might be a local thing, but one I shall be asking about before booking another room. I would have mentioned this in the morning when I left, but no one was around. Parking is not onsite, but literally just over the road in the square, you can see from my bedroom window how close.
