I love great Edwardian architecture and this huge house certainly has that in spades, designed by the eminent architect Quennell. The owner is very knowledgeable about its history and spent several years lovingly restoring it, he has even kept the original bill of works so you can see what things cost when it was first built in 1911. The big oak doors with their huge decorative hinges especially struck me.
And of course the massive sweeping views west towards Exmoor - you can spend ages on the terrace just gazing at the changing light, as we did.
And in the morning, we went up the 'cinder track' just by the front door which leads straight onto a footpath that gets you back on the network and up to Selworthy Beacon.
