Book this accomodation immediately. Antonello was the loveliest host of the most beautiful accomodation. He was so incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Matera - we learnt so much from him. He was easily contactable and one of the loveliest hosts we have met. The apartment is spotlessly clean, with a super comfortable bed and very generous provisions for breakfast were left for us. As other reviewers have noted, Old Town Matera is stairs, stairs and more stairs but Antonello’s accommodation is up high with very limited stairs to access the property. We didn’t have a car but the taxi dropped us about a 5 minute walk away. The absolute highlight of the apartment is the truly stunning view - a real ‘WOW’ moment. We could have spent hours just watching Matera come to life from our perfect viewing spot. The photo with the bell tower is not taken from the apartment but all other photos are taken from the main bedroom full length windows.

The view was amazing and very close to shops & restaurants. The accomodation is in a ZTL zone, so you need to walk down to it over cobblestones & a few steps (about 5 minutes)- worth it though.
Parking is on the street so not always easy to find; we opted for parking in a garage.
