Situated in Rotorua, this charming house for $105 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. An original Lockwood holiday home on a sheltered lake edge section in Boatshed Bay. Furnished with an open plan kitchen, dining and living area and a gas fireplace for winter. Boardwalk and steps lead down through bush and tree ferns to a shared deep water jetty. The deck, equipped with outdoor furniture and a gas barbeque, provides stunning views across the lake to Mt Tarawera and Kariri Point. The carport at the rear of the bach provides cover for two vehicles. Native birdlife abounds, a family of quails occasionally meander over the lawn and glow worms can be seen at the bottom of the steps in the evening. The site is private and peaceful and allows for full enjoyment of all that Lake Tarawera has to offer including safe swimming, lakeside walking tracks, trout fishing, boating, mountain biking or just relaxing. Situated near the start of the Tarawera settlement it is only a scenic 20 minute drive from Rotorua city centre and a short drive to the local lakeside cafe and the Buried Village at Te Wairoa. The nearest boat ramp is a couple of minutes drive along the road, or a five minute walk along the lake front track, and is where guests can park their boat trailers. There is a landline phone at the bach but no wifi at present. There is now also reasonable cellphone coverage in the area. Tui Glen is a great place to escape to at any time of the year and is ideal for couples or small families. Very tidy, small bach up on the hill overlooking the lake. Our young kids managed the stairs down to the water fine. We loved our stay and especially enjoyed all the native birds. Big shout out also to the Californai Quail family just outside the front door, fantastic to watch. We will hopefully be back one day!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, the batch was simple yet clean and well equipped, it was lovely to have a couple of days without Wi-Fi and in the beautiful quiet surroundings. It was so easy to use the kayaks and go out onto the lake. We would definitely love to stay here again.

Cosy wee cottage with fantastic views over the lake and Mt Tarawera. Access to the lake is an adventure down some stairs through the bush. Nice and warm thanks to the gas fire. Thanks for the warning about the water pump too! Gave us a bit of a fright. Thank you for sharing your spot with us.

The property is in a great location. The views are absolutely stunning. It is a little tricky navigating the almost hidden driveway and especially at night. But the views are worth it. The cabin easily accommodated three adults with our own beds. It was clean, tidy and comfortable. Good water and heat. The deck was fantastic! If we didn't have so much planned in and around Rotorua it would have been nice to just hang out there.

Wonderful relaxing stay, house had everything we needed including games and kayaks. Loved hanging on the deck looking at the views and going for bush walks. Also loved the Tarawera book. Driveway was tricky but needed for the views! Turnaround bay at boat ramp not far so definitely use it to get into the driveway!

Overall, we had a pleasant stay at this lovely place with a great view of the lake and plenty of activities such as kayaking and walking tracks. However, there were a few things that made us hesitant about returning. For instance, guests are required to bring their own linens and towels or pay an additional fee of $15 per person (We would prefer if this cost was built into our stay or made selectable as an addon option on bookabach, so we wouldn't have to worry about carrying cash). Additionally, guests are expected to remove all rubbish on departure, which involves putting it in a council bag and taking it to the rubbish transfer station. This was a unique policy that we had not encountered before, and it was not ideal for us as we prefer not to do this kind of housework on holiday. Moreover, the property lacked wifi and lighting on the deck, which made it challenging to plan evening activities. Lastly, we found it challenging to locate the rubbish transfer station as we were unfamiliar with the area, and we suggest that future guests be provided with clearer instructions that can be easily searched on Google maps or that the hosts take care of this task. Overall, while we enjoyed our stay, these issues detracted from our experience and may make us hesitant to return.

We absolutely loved our stay here. The house is small, but fabulously clean and had everything we needed. The location is amazing and Carol was very accomodating. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Beautiful views from deck with BBQ and outdoor dining table. Old school kiwi Bach- (no wifi or dishwasher…) short walk down trail to jetty with awesome neighbours. Quiet setting, bring supplies with you and remember to take your garbage & recycling when you leave.! Nice stay.

This is a perfect place to stay as we were attending a wedding at The Black Barn. The house was compact, clean and tidy. We could ind everything we needed. There was nice short bush walk to the private jetty. It was lovely waking to the sound of birds.
