About this lodge
Situated in Astor, this charming lodge for $654 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. "RIVER BEND LODGE" is a 5,600 sq. ft. private lodge where your family/group occupy the entire home, boat bunkhouse/ gameroom. It is the Jewel of the St John's River. Its is a spectacular river front custom-built lodge designed to entertain and relax with your family/group. The very open floor plan features an incredible island kitchen that opens directly into the sprawling 2600 sq. ft. great room built entirely with pecky cypress wood interior with full stone fireplace under vaulted ceilings with beautiful solid wood beams for those cool nights or just to sit with your family and relax and unwind. A continuous series of French Doors create a wall of glass along the water that can be opened completely to a deep wide wraparound screened porch to truly bring the indoor space to the outdoors over looking the river, the porch serves as a gorgeous out door living room with 5 ceiling fans. The main house is set up like a lodge with 4 King Suites featuring full private baths, walk-in closet, and dedicated entrances from outdoors and indoors. 1 Additional bedroom with private entrance has a kitchenette. Very Private and peaceful but plenty to do like shooting some pool on your own pool table in the 600 sq. ft. bunkhouse with 2 queen sized murphy beds full kitchenette and full size bathroom with card table for the adults to yard games like cornhole, to sitting on your dock watching Manatees swim by. Had a leadership retreat with our organization. There were 6 couples and the property was great for relaxing and meeting.
Loved the setting on the river, and the well furnished indoor and outdoor spaces. I would recommend for large groups.

the house had a leak in the roof of the living room. and many cockroaches throughout the house. In the kitchen we find the microwave and refrigerator inside the ice machine and many in the bathrooms. It was communicated to the owner and he said he was in contract with a company. but it was disgusting to pay so much to be in a house full of cockroaches

The overall stay was great! We loved the spacious layout and multiple master bedrooms. It made for an ideal stay with our family and children. Likewise we enjoyed the fishing despite not catching many large fish along the dock. We also got see some nature including fish, smaller gators, raccoons and even a manatee that swam to the top of the water at the dock. The negatives were the outdated decor and the fact we saw more than just a few bugs (roaches) in the kitchen. We were careful to keep food put away but still saw more than anticipated while cleaning and moving things on the counters. The owner was responsive when we messaged about a roof leak during a storm and sent a roofer out to repair it. In addition, there were few minor plumbing issues with toilets needing to be plunged or having to take the lid off to flush. The space is what truly made the stay comfortable and relaxing, but for the price we were expecting a few more updates and less presence of bugs. I would recommend staying here as long as those minor issues were addressed.

Riverbend was the perfect getaway place for our family reunion. The Lodge is huge as described with plenty of room to spread out both inside and out. We all loved early morning coffee around the firetop table in the enclosed breezeway area as well as out on the dock. Several memorable sunrises and great place to watch the river wake up. We used both the gas grill in the evenings and the flat cook top outside for eggs, bacon and pancakes. The bedrooms are all spacious and beds were comfortable. The home is a bit dated and could use some improvements and thus our overall 4 review. But please understand we had a 5 star vacation at Riverbend.
The location is fantastic. We rented the pontoon boat and enjoyed every minute of our time on the river. The sand bar or the springs (a bit further up) are both good destinations up the river and out onto Lake George. They are great spots to hang out, cook and swim with the family.
Mark and his team were very also responsive to questions in advance of our arrival to the home.

Great place for a large group
Stayed here with a group of 18 guys for the Sunshine Nationals at Volusia Speedway. The lodge was plenty large enough to accomodate our group. We had a fantastic time fishing off the dock and BBQing out back when we were not at the race. Mark was great and quick to respond to our questions. Highly recommend!

Very welcoming house for big groups!
The house is beautifully located on the river with big deck to enjoy morning coffee or afternoon drinks while admiring the amazing view. Although the house itself is a bit outdated, it is beautiful and welcoming and perfect for big groups to spend time together. The house’s public areas were planned carefully to support sharing quality time with friends and family. We loved the open floorplan and the many different sitting spots along the house, the screened porch and the outdoors. The house is centrally located in a quiet neighborhood and within a short driving distance to many central-Florida attractions such as natural springs, hiking trails, kayaking, fishing, and the beautiful Daytona beach. the host was great and very responsive. Overall, this house in an excellent choice to enjoy Florida. We will be back 😊
