Value for money in stunning location
It was exactly what we needed for our trip. I was doing a running event over 4 days and we needed somewhere that would take a dog. The Rustic Log cabin was perfect and well located. Fantastic views over Lough Foyle

Beautiful views but serious renovations needed
The views from the rustic log cabin are absolutely beautiful. Our dog and toddler also greatly appreciated running around the large garden in the sun.
Having stayed in the ‘rustic’ cabin we can wholeheartedly agree with the reviewers who remark on lack of cleanliness, odd smells and overall upkeep of the cabin. The whole place could do with a deep clean and some serious renovations.
The main bedroom and adjoining children’s bedroom, is not directly accessible from the living room of the cabin. This is not made clear from pictures or indeed the descriptions online. You have to leave one part of the cabin via a main door and enter through another door to another part of the building. This is obviously not ideal for those with young children (like we had)
The main bedroom and children’s bedroom (with en-suite) has an incredibly damp and musty smell which is not pleasant. There are bugs stuck to the roller blinds and curtains in all areas of the cabin which again is very dirty, not ‘rustic’. The cobwebs as well that all over the cabin both inside and out are very off putting.
The kitchen/living room of the cabin is not very comfortable at all. The old sofa is in a terrible condition and is very uncomfortable to sit on. The pots and pans in the drawers were absolutely filthy. Yes, we could have scrubbed them ourselves but in what world do you go on holiday to do that? Especially with two young children? This meant we opted to eat out both days.
We had a mix up on arrival with another family staying in our cabin which was quickly resolved by the owner. We were provided with 1 towel on arrival for 4 people staying. When we requested some, we were told that apparently some visitors had stolen them before so they don’t provide them anymore to those staying. This was fairly odd we felt given the fact that every single other place we have visited has provided such basics. So a note for fellow visitors would be to pack your own towels….as odd as that sounds!
Lastly, the hot tub that is advertised is simply far too far away from the log cabin. From a privacy point of view it just doesn’t work.

Disgraceful treatment from the owner
The views were amazing
We decided on booking somewhere with use of a hot tub. When we arrived there was nobody there to great us and show us the property. The pictures are very misleading as it looks like the hot tub is close to the cabin but its no where near it. Not only that but it wasnt even ready for use with no information providing on booking.com or the website for the property. After requesting use of the hot tub we were then told by lely in a text that the hot tub was down for maintenance. Obviously we werent happy as it is in a remote place and thats the only reason we booked. After calling lely she informed us that a part was needed and it would be at least 2 weeks before it is ready. We then decided to look elsewhere and request a refund. Unfortunatley it was 4 hours before the owner mickey contacted me. By then with not alot of time to decide what to do and having an 11 year old who was expecting to use a hot tub we had already moved to a hotel in ballybofey. Mickey on that call insisted that the hot tub would have been made available but it was on request as it was seasonal, however after explaining, he came across sympathetic to our situation and had agreed to a refund. Within minutes he went to the booking.com app and cancelled the refund request and wrote in the chat that the hot tub is available. Which is lies. Even if there was no part needed to repair the hot tub, it takes time to heat and add chemicals to amke it ready for use, so when would we have got use of it on the sarurday. It absolutley crazy that booking.com sided with this a refused the refund. He knows that we have moved on and even though i sent him the message that we got from lely his attidude completley changed. I would strongly recommened against booking the cabin due to the misleading pictures and the lies the owner told us. Also the pictures give the impression its all one cabin. Its not.

Great location and beautiful view. Host was lovely and left us to it, even provided us with well water(tap water was drinkable too). Heating was great and easy to work.
Only thing that wasn't exactly clear is the hot tub being chargeable.. not a massive charge. 20 euro for duration of our stay if we wanted but due to us only staying two nights it wasn't exactly worth it. The toilet that is on the outside of the property could use a clean but there is one inside the property which was perfectly clean.
