I think we got upgraded to a room with a terrace, and it was absolutely incredible. Right on the water. Extremely beautiful surroundings. A concrete platform right in front of the hotel you can jump into the water from (free/for the public). 15min walk to the Castle. Quick bus to Trieste town centre.
There was a slight sewage/damp smell coming from the bathroom at times.

Honestly pretty disappointing for the price point. The breakfast was pretty good and the bed was alright
The staff were almost universally pushy and rude (with one exception that was very kind). The rooms look completely different (much the worse). The entire bathroom gets soaked when you shower, hair left on the walls of the bathroom, the toiletries were half empty at the start. The view is completely obstructed by equipment.
