The staff were excellent and extremely professional at all times. I enjoyed a few conversations with the owner / manager which was very stimulating. I will be staying again as this hotel is a hidden gem.
The rooms, the food, the reasonably priced drinks and of course the excellent staff who all went those important few yards extra.

There was nothing to dislike.
The room was clean and very comfortable with plenty of space.
As above there was nothing to dislike.

The hotel is a dignified historical building in a pleasant riverside setting, comfortably adapted to modern hotel standards. We appreciated the size and quietness of our room, the cleanliness and the provision of a good restaurant with an imaginative menu. It is conveniently placed for Selby Abbey, and within easy reach of the M18 and A1(M), suitable for an overnight stay on the road between London and Scotland.
There is little in the immediate surrounds to make one want to stay around. The hotel itself does not have a lift for handling the luggage.

We did really get to use the hotel properly as we were in late and out early but from what we did experience: The hot water in the taps was instant and the room outlook was pleasant.
We need to be out early both days but they wouldn't provide an early breakfast or a packup. As the only time we would be likely to use a hotel in the area is to attend an event that starts early we won't be using it again. Very expensive for what was effectivlely just a bed.
