The property was gorgeous and full of traditional, old-world charm. Its location was excellent for exploring Kyoto’s historic sights, with plenty of convenience stores nearby.
There were two Western-style double beds, while the remaining sleeping arrangements were Japanese-style and all were not particularly comfortable for us. However, this was manageable as we stayed for only two nights. The kitchen was very small and basic, and the TV required a Japanese Amazon Prime account to use. As mentioned in the listing, the stairs were extremely steep, so guests should take extra care.
The staff at the collection point near Kyoto Station were lovely, and they kindly transported our luggage to the property for us.

A really nice old-style house in central Kyoto. Very spacious and nicely designed. At a walking distance from the local Pokemon Center, if you’re a fan.
There is no in-house check in. You have to first go to Rinn Kyoto Station Hotel, and then the staff invites a Taxi for you to the place. This is very confusing. We arrived at Rinn Station Kyoto West, which apparently is NOT Rinn Kyoto Station Hotel, after walking for 20 minutes with large suitcases. Unfortunately, I had to argue with the chain staff so that they take responsibility for this confusion, which eventually they did, and invited another Taxi for us.
While the house is spacious, the kitchen is very small, so don’t plan on fancy cooking in house. There is a washing machine but no dryer. The beds are short for someone above 6 feets, and in general beware of short doorways (but this is general for old houses in Japan).
