About this house rental
Situated in Oxnard, this lovely house for $1,003 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. The first thing you experience when entering the Cottage, is distant islands and the deep blue ocean stretching to infinity in all directions. A quick change to your favorite Hawaiian shirt and you are sitting on the beach in an Adirondack chair…you notice there is almost no one on the beach, and the only noise is the surf and your kids having the time of their lives, “perfect”. Well almost perfect . . . perfect is Fiji, 10 hours and $10,000 away, but this will work! “On the Sand” is a classic California beach house that has been professionally updated, mixing its original beach charm with modern comforts. The original lighthouse mural remains and the typical beach-area small bedrooms and bathrooms were given a surprisingly elegant feel, with distinctive beach styling and upscale bedding. Your time at the Cottage will be spent on the beach and in the Beach Room. The Beach Room, the largest we know of, offers beach and fireplace lounges, sit down dining for 10 and our favorite…the Light House bar and cold kitchen for your morning coffee, beach side lunch, snacks and beverages. For the chef in your family and sunset dinners there is a second “hot” kitchen. The beach deck has a bar facing the ocean that we bet will become your sunset cocktail spot. If you care to venture away from your beach house, you have a marina at your back door with restaurants, sport fishing and boat rentals. Santa Barbara is less than an hour away and the wine country just a bit further. This beach home has EVERYTHING! The home is cozy and comfortable while having 5 bedrooms! The beach is private and beautiful and it accomodated our entire family for over a week! All the equipment to entertain & cook is here. Two kitchens made making a Thanksgiving dinner easy. Walk out the door right on to the beach! Our children & grandchildren have memories of our time here together to last a lifetime! It was a dream come true! We’ll be back!

This place is great plain and simple. Right on the sand, 5 bd rms, walking distance to food and coffee. Went for the weekend with my wife and her sisters for her birthday weekend. Home is also fully stocked and recently updated, would stay again on our next beach trip! David the host was amazing and available with any questions we had.

Very nice having the main living area on the same level as the beach. No stairs to climb coming in and out of the house onto the sand. Open floor plan allows you to enjoy the views from the kitchen area and living room area. There's a very convenient drink frig, sink, and large counter space feet front the sliding door to the sand. This place is great for a family to spend together at the beach. Thank you!

This property is very close to an almost private beach. When we travel, we like to allow the kids a bit of freedom. With this property, we felt like we were home safe and sound. Everyone had a blast and we relaxed and chatted up a storm. The check in and check out times were generous and allowed us to find all our flip-flops. :) On Sunday we went to the local food market which was very close and found great items for sale. I would recommend this property as a great get away.

This property was not that special. We were there on an off season weekend. For the sum we paid, the home should have been perfect. It was not. It lacked charm and comfort. No extra blankets or pillows. The bedding was unsuitable. Most bedrooms had bare walls, not a single picture/painting. Upstairs rooms tiny, upstairs bath even smaller. Knowing that the home was not rented in the days prior to our arrival, we asked for a few hours early check in. We received no response. There is an old, bulky padlock on a cabinet right next to the fireplace. VRBO says that clients will never feel they are staying in someone else’s home. The locked cabinet says otherwise. Patio was not swept or watered down prior to our arrival. Barbecue filthy, uncleaned - only 1 of 3 burners operable. The whole outside of the house was dirty. The place inside and out is in need of a paint job. Proximity to the beach, yes. Luxury, no. The furnishings are at least 20 years old. For the price, we expected a lot more. It was not a pleasure.

Had a great time at the cottage. It is perfect for families with it being right on the beach and just a short walk to some cute stores and restaurants. The house is cozy and rooms are definitely small but regardless of that it was a perfect spring break getaway

We enjoyed the property, it was accurate to the listing and well appointed. Right on the (very wide) beach on a dead end street, so ideal for those looking to get away from it all!

Loved the large living area. One group watched the ocean and another group watched TV. The 10 of us were together in the same room but doing different things. The bedrooms were small but the beds were comfortable. We spent a lot of time on the beach which was quiet - seemed to be a very nice neighborhood. We would definitely rent this house again.

Loved that it is on the beach we could just walk out onto the sand. It was a great weekend and had everything we needed.

This was great! Right on the beach. Clean, cozy and quiet. Bedrooms were a bit small, but we spent most of our time in the living room, enjoying family time. Really enjoyed our stay.

I had a very nice time and the location was perfect. Very easy check in/check out process, so no complaints. The family space is great - very spacious and well done. Some of the rooms don’t have closets and one of the bathrooms is really tiny, but that honestly didn’t bother us too much.

We wanted to be on the beach and this house was perfect. We had 10 of us and the experience on the beach was perfect. Two good size lounge areas and dining area made for a perfect time of fellowship for us. We grilled out, took in sunsets, and just had a great relaxing time on the beach! I highly recommend this place. Parking is limited, but there were plenty of options a quick walk from the street we were on for our extra vehicles.

After being couped up during this pandemic, this was the much needed vacation we all needed. This house accommodated us perfectly. Great space to hang out and relax without feeling crowded. Very clean, quiet and just perfect!

Perfect decor, vibe and location
Our family recently stayed at the beach house it was lovely everything was well stocked , very clean and perfect location. My only concern is it is listed as a 3 bath online however it is only a 2 full bath plus an outdoor shower that was not working during our stay. We did not contact Mgr. Re showered because we really weren't going to use it.

No crowds even in the middle of June. It was such a treat to feel like we had the beach to ourselves. My soon to be 87 year old mother was with us and had the time of her life! She didn’t want to leave:) David’s cottage has an incredible great room that’s perfect for relaxing and taking in the amazing views. Anacapa island was so clear it felt like you could swim to it! We saw dolphins and sea lions while lounging in the sand on the super comfy beach chairs. I’ve stayed in a lot of rental homes as I love to travel when I can. I highly recommend David’s house. It’s really nicely equipped with everything you need to cook your own meals or plenty of good eats within walking distance. The kitchen set up is unique and I loved the “cold” kitchen and coffee bar area by the slider to the sand. Cute farmers market on Sunday a short walk away. We originally had 8 of my family members coming to stay. Only 5 of us actually made it. We were very happy with the set up and the beds were very comfortable. David was super easy to communicate with and it really felt like a home away from home. We will definitely be back next summer. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home David!!

What a wonderful nice cottage home on the sand! Check in was easy. Clean, cozy, and well stocked. Location can't be beat on a quiet, empty beach. I've stayed at a few other vacation rentals in the past (none at the beach), but this property was the best. David was great with communication. We will definitely be planning to stay in the future!
