A beautiful room and comfortable bed. The location was perfect for what I wanted, and although the pub was busy , my room was wonderfully quiet,
It was very difficult to operate the lighting. There were no instructions and even the very helpful woman on reception was mystified as to how it worked. I feel there should be some guidance for anyone who is new to the hotel. It’s inconvenient to have to find someone to help. A magnifying mirror in the bathroom would also be a good idea. Apart from these small issues ,the Alexander Pope was a lovely place to stay.

Lovely place, great location for us.
We were told that there is building work going on from 9am to 5pm and the prices would reflect this. We were woken up at 7.15am by hammering which was frustrating. At reception at check out all we were told is sorry. Not good enough.
