Our host, Mark, wasn't able to be there when we arrived, but phoned me with details of how to gain access to the property and our room. The latter was very large, elegant and comfortably furnished - the sort of room which might be found in a very expensive hotel, with a fine en suite bathroom. Breakfast was not provided, but details were given as to where to get it and we readily found a very good cafe very close by. Parking was also available off the street and adjacent to the property, which was easily found and in a location close to the town centre and major routes. All in all, just what we needed - and better!

Mark welcomed us warmly before showing us to our king room. It was a lovely big room, with a huge bay window forming one floor of a turret. The bed was very comfortable and we were pleased to find water provided in the room. Beggar's Knap is superbly located for Dorchester town centre.
The only niggle was that the car park entrance is on a different road from the property address, and not easy to spot - a sign outside would really help.

The location of the hotel is excellent and within short walking distance to shops and places to eat and drink. The room was large with good views of Dorchester center. The beds were comfortable, we both had a good nights sleep and enjoyed our stay. The host was great and upon arrival, explained everything we needed to know. The hotel also included a parking space for our car. I recommend highly.

Owner very friendly. Extravagant room deco. Large radiator. Comfortable bed.
Lumpy or hard cushions. Used two Summer bed blankets, instead of one Winter blanket which kept sliding around during the night and did not keep warmth. No shower water pressure. No welcome snacks, just a bottle of water. Very underwhelming
