Beautiful location in the Yorkshire Dales, lots of lovely walks nearby and plenty to do within a short drive. It’s what you’d expect from a youth hostel-clean and well organised, self catering kitchen and bookable meals available on site. Helpful staff and a decent lounge area and seating with views outside. We paid for breakfast which was really good with unlimited drinks/pastries/toast etc and a cooked breakfast, they catered for us as vegan, vegetarian and with a peanut and sesame allergy.
Our room was next to the toilets and below stairs and other rooms-very noisy as it’s an old building so you’ll need ear plugs! The bathroom window could do with a curtain or blind and the very bright light came on every time the door was opened then took ages to switch off and the door was stiff to close so the light woke everyone if someone went to the bathroom in the night! The kitchen area can get very busy but this isn’t an issue if you can work around each other or off you’re happy to eat a little earlier or later! Breakfast was great but over ten years it’s the same price as an adult so only worth it if you’re child has a good appetite!

First of all, it's in an amazing setting with wonderful views and the building itself is grand and with a fascinating history. The staff were friendly and the showers and toilets were in good condition.
The value for money was poor. The glamping pods were very minimal just a roof and 3 beds for 85 pounds seemed excessive when you consider you had to pay extra for towels and breakfast. It ended up costing as much as a 4 star b&b in Hawes with a much much better breakfast and facilities. We might have felt differently if we stayed in a dorm but the pods were too expensive for the facilities included.
