The St. Regis Le Morne Resort, Mauritius

My stay at The St. Regis Le Morne was nothing short of extraordinary. I travelled solo to celebrate my 40th birthday, and what made this experience so special wasn’t simply the beautiful resort or the luxurious suite — it was the exceptional people who made me feel genuinely welcomed, cared for and celebrated. Marie Michelle Adelaide, At Your Service Manager, deserves a very special mention. Her warmth, attentiveness and thoughtfulness began weeks before I even arrived at the resort. From our initial communication, she made me feel that my birthday was important to the team, and she ensured that my stay would be memorable. Her attention to detail and genuine warmth set the tone for everything that followed. Nikhil, my butler, was equally wonderful. He was thoughtful, attentive and always happy to help, making everything feel effortless. Alongside the rest of the butler team, he went above and beyond to make me feel special. They remembered my preferences, anticipated my needs and added thoughtful personal touches that made a real difference. Girish Dudhee, my butler, and Nea Shibchurn, my butler, also contributed to the exceptional level of care I received throughout my stay. Their thoughtfulness and attention to detail helped make the experience feel personal rather than simply a service being delivered. Riad Soyfoo, Acting Butler Service Manager, also deserves recognition for his contribution to the wonderful hospitality I experienced. The birthday celebrations themselves were incredible. From the beautiful decorations and thoughtful surprises in my suite to the massage, afternoon tea, Bloody Mary ritual, sunset sabrage, stargazing and private cinema celebration, the team created a wonderful itinerary that made my birthday feel truly special. Even the smallest gestures — remembering my favourite cake, offering refreshments spontaneously and making sure I was comfortable by the pool — demonstrated how much pride the team takes in looking after its guests.

A little outdated

Absolutely incredible resort, the best one we have ever stayed in. We only have positive things to say: The room was beautiful and very comfortable, with an amazing bathroom and spacious balcony. The location is even more beautiful than the pictures, Le Morne is one of the most stunning parts of the island and the sunsets on the beach were super special. Great variety of activities, including workout classes, tennis, and plenty of water activities. All of the restaurants we tried, as well as breakfast, served delicious food and there was plenty to choose from. The staff is the real highlight of the hotel - the consistently high level of service provided by all staff members is unmatched by any other place we have been to. We received incredibly kind, attentive, and personalized service from every single staff member, from the butler service, reception, restaurants, cleaning and many more. It was the perfect choice to celebrate our honeymoon and we hope to be able to return soon!

Location is excellent. Food is great with lot of options.

I am a Marriott Platinum Elite member, and we chose this property to celebrate our anniversary. Unfortunately, the overall experience was underwhelming and did not meet the standards I have come to expect from Marriott. A) Confusion regarding Suite Night Award usage There was considerable confusion from the hotel’s side regarding the use of my Suite Night Award before arrival. This resulted in unnecessary stress leading up to the stay. Although the hotel eventually honored its commitment after repeated follow-ups and insistence from my side, the entire experience was unpleasant and could have been handled much more professionally. B) In-room dining service and privacy concerns During our in-room dining experience, one of the servers removed the foil covering our food despite us specifically requesting that it be left on to keep the food warm. More concerning, about an hour later, the same staff member entered our room without first informing us, even though we were inside. He stated that the plates needed to be collected as per hotel policy. This was a serious breach of privacy and left us feeling extremely uncomfortable. We immediately raised this concern with the hotel management. C) Lack of personalized hospitality The service throughout the stay felt very transactional. We were assigned a butler, but after the initial introduction, there was no proactive engagement or effort to enhance our experience, despite the hotel being aware that we were celebrating our anniversary. Apart from a small cake sent to the room, there was little acknowledgment of the occasion. While I understand that such gestures are not an obligation, as a Marriott Platinum Elite member I have consistently experienced Marriott properties going the extra mile to make special occasions memorable. That level of hospitality was noticeably absent here. D) Breakfast-to-go experience As we had to check out early at 5:30 AM, we requested a packed breakfast.
