Braemar Youth Hostel

The location & staff were lovely, the showers hot & the kitchen & breakfast set up great. Had a really good drying room

There was only one sink for all women on the first floor perhaps a sink in the room or making all the toilets unisex might make it a bit fairer

The entire experience at Braemar, the cleanliness, the friendliness of Hamilton, the efficient water the hostel is run and managed.

The drive way needs tarred and lit, especially if you come at night.

This is a great hostel and if you're on a budget, its probably the only place to stay in Braemar. The building is ideally located in the small village with just a short 3 minute walk to the village centre. There is adequate parking on site, if as I did you are arriving by car. The hostel is in a big Victorian stone built house and has all of the charms of such a character building. The kitchen is modern with great facilities and the dining area is spacious and pleasant. The lounge is fantastic. Spacious, well decorated, appointed with numerous comfortable couches and a nice place to quietly relax and unwind in the evenings. The toilets and shower room are a little dated but are clean and functional. I stayed in Room 1 which is an 8 person (4x bunk beds) room. The room is large and there is plenty of space along with a nice sized locker (could easily fit a rucksack or suitcase) available for each bed-space. Overall, this is excellent budget friendly accommodation in a wonderful location. I have stayed here many times and will likely be back again.

Ladies wash facilities were dire! Freezing shower cubicles and what on earth is the point of one toilet with 3 sinks? Invite two friends to watch one going to the toliet???? The other choice was 3 toilets with one sink!
